I thought it would be smarter to hold off on Faber coaching TUF until the season actually deals with featherweights, bantamweights or flyweights. It’ll be more of a coming out party for the lighterweight class with Faber heading the way coaching those guys as opposed to Faber coaching welterweights on this upcoming season.

Is it even realistic to do a 145/135 tuf? Most guys fight up a weight on tuf and cutting weight on the show is tough.

Another 145/155 season would be ill-timed.
Especially considering that the UFC just brought a bunch of lighter weight class fighters from the WEC.

They did a 155 lbs season when they wanted to re-introduce the LW’s to the masses, and used the original UFC American LW pioneers (Pulver and Penn) as a way to lead the charge. They could and would do the same with Faber, and whoever they pick as his opponent. There is more interesting undiscovered talent at those weight classes out there than getting another lameduck tournament champion like Amir Sadollah and Court McGee.

I really don't know who it is gonna be now.
Is Lesnar / Mir back in play?
Is Sonnen / Wand gonna happen?
Are there any other names in the running?
From..
What I have heard (which could be wrong) Maynard/Edgar winner v. Pettis on TUF.
eeeeeenteresting
not a bad move since no one cares much about frankie or gray – give folks a season of TUF to get to know them
Not bad at all
They can create another real star in the LW division if Pettis wins. Even if he loses. Showtime is an understatement. With Frankie’s limited height and reach, Pettis may pull out some insane head kick again. After thinking about that, I can pretty much guarantee we’ll see Pettis try some new crazy kick. Whether or not it lands…. that’s another story. But Frankie knows to expect the unexpected and you know how that goes.
I can only imagine how some of the older guys will feel about having a 23 year old ‘coach’. But hey, Duke fucking Rufous will be there. You know Pat Barry will be popping in to. Should be cool.

Putting Gray on TUF would be weird.
Really, he has no personality or microphone/camera presence. Maybe some TV exposure might change that?

Yeah. The air time would be a big help to either guy.
I really really really hope Frankie pulls it off.
SPIKE TV would have to be put on suicide watch.

I highly doubt that...
if only for the fact that Pettis is so young and inexperienced (despite his impressive performances), that he really doesn’t have any business “coaching” fighters.
the stars don't coach that much really.
"Brock Lesnar's NCAA record 8 years removed is absolutely relevant. Alistair Overeem winning the K-1 World Grand Prix in 2010? A total Non sequitur that isn't worth debate."
That was my thought
But Duke would be there. Its not Like they need him to coach anyway.

I think Brock and the Undertaker will coach the next Ultimate Fighter

Not normal people, no
Mick Foley, on the other hand…
only reason i wouldn't be in favor of that...
… is how long it’ll delay the division, and the inevitable sotiropolous title shot.
Good point.
With Jim Miller, G Sot and potentially Dunham in the wings it would be a shame to put the division on hold.
Just for the exposure, I think that will make a lot of sense. Pettis’s last fight was on the WEC, not the UFC, so when he ends up fighting the winner of Maynard vs Edgar, people won’t know who Pettis is. Having Pettis on TUF will allow people to get familiar with him, and since Maynard nor Edgar are draws, it allows people to get to know one of them as well. Pettis is still a student of the game, so he may not make the best coach, but with Roufus there, he’d have good people helping him.
I won't jump off the bandwagon just because you lost.

Great, I was thinking that if Faber wasn’t going to get a direct title shot, Eddie Wineland would make the perfect opponent for him. Wineland’s been on a good streak lately, so it’ll look great for Faber when he defeats him.

I think Wineland would get the bigger bump with a win here.
I should have satyed out of Cain’s strawberry patch.
He would, it would be a huge deal if Wineland somehow beats Faber. I mean, this is the highest profile fight he’s ever had (I know he was champion, but very few watched in that era). His boxing looked great against Campuzano, I just think Faber would catch him in a submission in a scramble.

Chase Beebe took the belt from him, but that was a long time ago. Hard telling where Wineland is now.
Great fight
One of the first MMA fights I ever saw, Chase was one of the first fighters I ever really rooted for, that second round was awesome
Eddie is great on the feet but has weak grappling.
Faber RNC in the first. Too bad, I was liking the comeback run Wineland was on.
OHHHHH! OH MY GOODNESS DID YOU SEE THAT?! He ran up the wall like a ninja and landed a high kick! Unbelievable! I've never seen anything like that, it's like something out of a movie!

Is this Co- Main?
Faber has name recognition… and there arent many other stars on the card
I just hope Cro Cop doesn’t get the co-main event feature. Faber really deserves that slot, not Cro Cop.

“bum chin”
That amused me.
Arghhh.

Should be an easy win for Faber big difference in the quality of competition they’ve been fighting

In this picture he looks like a mini Carwin
How come only few people accuse him of juicing? Too short?
"Common sense is not so common"
He's pretty ripped
but he’s not a huge guy at all. Even for someone as short as him.

And the fact that he has no history of positive tests (to my knowledge)
may have something to do with the lack of accusations.

oh, i don't know... evidence
is Faber named in a federal case as the recipient of a shipment of steroids?
Lack of evidence is not evidence
There are no evidence of Reem or Brock ever using steroids, care to make the same argument?
"Common sense is not so common"
You could make the argument he has the cleanest diet in MMA.
Guy was raised on excellent eating habits.

Good fight. I thought that the UFC would give Faber an immediate Bantamweight Title shot against Cruz, but I am glad that they are doing this fight instead. With Banuelos vs Torres, Kid vs Johnson, and Page vs Bowles coming up pretty soon and this Faber vs Wineland fight, I’m glad to see relevant and big fights for this division. I expect Faber to take this fight to the ground and get some sort of submission victory.
I won't jump off the bandwagon just because you lost.
