The Top 10 Fights in Dynamite! History

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Dynamite!, and to whet your appetite for the 2010 edition, here are the ten greatest fights in Dynamite! history as compiled by myself, with assistance from UGer EckY.

10. Kid Yamamoto vs. Genki Sudo (2005)

Remembered mostly for the controversial stoppage, but this was also the final of the HERO's tournament and a fight between two of Japan's all-time most popular fighters.

9. Yoshihiro Akiyama vs. Kazushi Sakuraba (2006)

Another controversial finish, and a turning point for Japanese MMA.

8. Genki Sudo vs. Butterbean (2003)

One of the greatest freak fights in MMA history.

7. Masaaki Noiri vs. Hiroya (2009)

Easily the best K-1 Koshien fight ever.

6. Akihiro Gono vs. Hayato Sakurai (2009)

Terrific contest between two PRIDE veterans and the best of the DREAM vs. Sengoku series that year.

5. Jerome Le Banner vs. Bob Sapp (2004)

Epic mixed rules match that swung wildly from round to round.

4. Masato vs. Kid Yamamoto (2004)

Not given much of a chance, Kid surprised a lot of people by hanging with a much larger, more skilled opponent.

3. Kid Yamamoto vs. Rani Yahya (2007)

Overshadowed by the Yarrenoka event that year, this slugfest is a forgotten classic.

2. Masato vs. Andy Souwer (2009)

Classic five round retirement fight for the legendary Masato.

1. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Bob Sapp (2002)

One of the most spectacular fights ever and the quintessential MMA comeback.

Honorable Mention:

Bob Sapp vs. Akebono (2003)

Wasn't pretty, but it remains the most watched fight in Dynamite history.

Heath Herring vs. Kiss Nakao (2005)

For the lulz
