Jamie been nothing but a class act when I have talked to him on Twitter

Really nice guy who appreciates his fans.

I’ve found him to be incredibly disrespectful, especially towards other fighters.

I feel the same way about Chael Sonnen, and I presonally think he uses “promotion” as a blanket excuse for compulsive lying and neo-con prejudice… but at least he is funnier than Varner.

Watching him get beat up is entertaining and pretty humorous. Him losing the way to feed himself and his family, is not

He has stated he is going to finish his college degree so I guess this isn’t a living on the street type situation here or that he is worrying about not being able to afford food. Does he have a family to feed?

Allow me to join you

He might be a great dude outside of the cage for all I know but inside of it he has always came across as a douche.

by simpsycho on Dec 28, 2010 4:40 PM EST up reply actions

I bet you knew him well. Other than the Varner/Cerrone knee situation, I see no reason he needs to be painted a douche or bad person. Some of you guys are too soft

Personally my impression is the dude’s sort of a dink, but I didn’t blame him for the Cerrone knee situation.

Not shocking. Winless in 4 (although I thought he beat Kamal)

And decisively losing all three fights whether by stoppage or the Cerrone ass kicking.

Accustomed to mediocrity.

not terribly surprising

Not shocked at all

I’m guessing we’ll be seeing a lot of one and dones the next few shows as the newcomers and lighter classes sort themselves out.

by alibabba on Dec 28, 2010 3:49 PM EST via mobile reply actions

Not sure about the FW and BW since they are new weight classes for the UFC

but I can see a lot of LWs from WEC getting cut if they lose their next fights.

by av1o3 on Dec 28, 2010 3:52 PM EST up reply actions

Well, yeah this seemed pretty obvious. He really deserved that win over Kamal Shalorus though.

He’s a solid enough fighter that I think Bellator could do something with him.

With the WEC merger they’re probably in the filtering process. Who wants it more?

…but given his history of being in some of the bigger WEC fights and his Kamal fight, I thought he’d be given another chance.

Shame.

He was a bit of a dickhead but he wasn’t a bad fighter by any means. He’ll probably be back after he puts some wins together.

OHHHHH! OH MY GOODNESS DID YOU SEE THAT?! He ran up the wall like a ninja and landed a high kick! Unbelievable! I've never seen anything like that, it's like something out of a movie!

I agree. I think he had a bit of bad luck. He easily could have beaten Bendo and should have gotten the nod in the Shalorus fight. Didn’t see the Roller fight.

Or at least the ones I’ve seen, though yeah he would’ve been eaten alive in the UFC.

Didn’t know Chris got dropped which is news I love cause I hate that guy. Not sure how he is now, but he was damn cocky when he was younger. I used to like watching his fights because I’d enjoy seeing him getting knocked out or tapped out.

I think he’s generally underrated and that the UFC’s LW division is generally overrated. I think he’s going to beat Cole and will do fine.

oh no, lots of people love him

and he can be an exciting fighter.

it’s his attitude and behavior outside the cage, and his intentional use of groin strikes to soften up opponents inside the cage that i don’t care for.

of course, the last time i said what i really thought about him, i got the banhammer. so i’m trying to be restrained here. :-)

Honestly, I like watching the dude fight. It’s just whenever I see him, I get this auto-exasperation going. No clue what it is; probably speaks to some weirdo hangup I have.

Jamie Varner is a Whiner but Strikeforce could use him

Strikeforce needs to pick up Varner and setup a match between him and Josh Thomson. The match is already somewhat built up with all the disrespect that Thomson has for the WEC Lightweight division, plus both guys can talk. Former WEC Lightweight Champ vs Former Strikeforce Champ.
