UFC Fight for the Troops 2 Preview: Matt Mitrione Talks Tim Hague

"I’m at that point now that I understand when it’s time for the big shot and when to go for the finish, or when it’s time to pot-shot. I think that’s the craft I’ve developed the most."-- Check out the full interview with Matt Mitrione at MMA Weekly.
"(Tim Hague) is a good wrestler, scrambles well and is a good jiu-jitsu guy, so I think it will be a good, fun test for me. I think at least we’ll get the troops up on their feet with the show we put on, that’s for damn sure."
"I want to fight very, very good competition. Am I ready to fight upper echelon, top-tier talent? I don’t know. That’s what I want to find out. I would love those challenges, but unfortunately it is one step at a time for me."

Shaped up to be a pretty fun card
Dunham Guillard makes a good case for a maybe title eliminator, maybe have the winner fight sodoropolis (spelling…). Rani Yahya looks decent, I’m worried for my Korean boy. Any thoughts on him? I dont remember seeing him fight.

The winner will not fight Sotiropoulos. Maybe the winner can fight Ben Henderson. Sotiropoulos is fighting Siver, and then he will get a title shot. Siver is just to keep him busy.

Sorry to break it to you...
G Sot is not getting the next title shot. Just saying. Pretty sure “Showtime” will be next in line.

Seems to me it'll probably end up like this
1. Maynard vs. Edgar at UFC125
2. Sotiropoulos vs. Siver at UFC127
3. Pettis vs. [winner of fight #1] at some point Q2 2011
4. Potential Sotiropoulos vs. Bocek fight at some point Q2 2011
4a. Sotiropoulos may choose to Rashad a title shot and opt for a long wait instead of fighting
5. Sotiropoulos vs. [winner of fight #3] at some point Q3 or Q4 2011
I want Cody to win too, but I don’t think he can.

I think what I like about this card is the contrast of weight classes
Little guys, big guys, little guys, big guys, little guys. Guarantees some exciting lightweight action and hopefully some HW KO’s. Hope this card has as many violent finishes as the last fight for the troops card.

Losing two in a row decisively and having your last win be a boring snoozer against Saunders
Does not help your case.

It's going to be a long crawl back to the top.
Jesus, Swick was in title contention not too long ago.

It’s refreshing to see a fighter being honest here. That’s better than hearing him say that he’s going to crush everyone. It’s also nice to see him being brought up slowly so that he has time to develop. It’s probably better for his career that he lost on TUF. Luckily many people won’t remember that he got subbed by James McSweeney.
