Why is Lawler the only guy in color?

Cause Robbie mughfuckin Lawlor!
This poster isn’t exactly the greatest
They made a video game about Yakuzas. It’s called Yakuza. And it’s about Yakuza
at least
his opponent is on the poster.

Lmao, I looked at the poster and that's the first thing I thought.
I’m glad to see it was the first comment. It just doesn’t make sense. Out of that card Lawler is certainly not the biggest draw. Maybe they wanted to show how awesome his beard is and in black and white it didn’t do him justice.
going for a Sin City type deal?

diaz’s opponent isn’t featured but at least they have a beastly looking walker on there. ô¿ô

There's no such thing as a non-beastly looking Herschel Walker

Say what you will about UFC and their poster designs
At least they include both opponents in them.
You’d think Strikeforce would have learnt from not promoting Jakes Shields as well as Dan Henderson, or from Elite XC where an invisible James Thompson was on the verge of beating SUPER KIMBO if it wasn’t for the New Jersey Screw Job.
This one sided promotion is completely bush league and sets themselves up for a fall if the unknown entity wins.

I agree.
The poster looks photo shopped. But hey they are all about exciting fights. Rankings and belts are meaningless. So I suppose it’s a somewhat exciting poster.
What poster isn’t photoshopped?

Maybe if you count flyers done for punk rock shows, those might not be, LOL.

OMG NO ONE WILL WATCH THERE ISN’T A PICTURE OF SCOTT CARSON ON THE POSTER
LOL, cmon.

I like that the poster “sets them up for a fall” if the underdog wins.
by Jonathan Snowden on Dec 23, 2010 10:45 AM EST up reply actions 2 recs
It's not even if an underdog wins
It’s if a “who the fuck is this guy?” wins. It’d be like advertising a new Spider-Man movie, and having an uncredited extra beat the villain. That’s how dumb these Strikeforce posters are.
Yes put Diaz on there, yes put Walker on there, but put their opponents on as well.
This poster sucks.
Scott coker needs to stop letting his 10yo son do the posters. Christ. Playing favorites a bit are we? Just put some staredowns on there and call it a fuckin day.
UFC posters are bland and show no creativity! They suck!
Strikeforce posters don’t feature both opponents! They suck!
We get it, nothing will ever meet the lofty demands of the MMA fanbase. I actually think this poster isn’t bad apart from the poorly shopped in image of Lawler.
OHHHHH! OH MY GOODNESS DID YOU SEE THAT?! He ran up the wall like a ninja and landed a high kick! Unbelievable! I've never seen anything like that, it's like something out of a movie!

Clearly, they need event posters like PRIDE that had no pictures of fighters and only small script of the names, but big modern photos of things like babies suckling, sperm heading towards an egg, or sharks in water. That would clarify their product to the fans and be a more effective way of drawing people into the building and on TV.
I read that as “babies sucking sperm”.. which I didn’t recall from the PRIDE days, but it would certainly be progressive I guess.

I don’t really understand the complaint that Strikeforce should always show a fighter’s opponent along with him on the poster. First, if they did that wouldn’t they merely be imitating UFC’s poster. Hard to distinguish yourself in the market if you are providing a carbon copy. Second, Strikeforce is imitating the industry that has developed the most successful promotional posters in history: film. They are advertising the biggest stars that will draw attention and eyes to their product.

Hmmm.......you make a valid point
They made a video game about Yakuzas. It’s called Yakuza. And it’s about Yakuza
yep,
except for this part which I don’t agree with:
First, if they did that wouldn’t they merely be imitating UFC’s poster.

Yeah, I should been more specific. I was referring to those that seem to be suggesting that they just have two fighters facing off against each other.
And has anyone else noticed how much better the last few UFC posters have been? With the exception of the monstrosity that is UFC 127: Penn vs Fitch.
by John Nash on Dec 23, 2010 12:12 PM EST via mobile up reply actions
126 and 127 looked like shit in my humble opinion... (and I'm hoping that's not the final poster)
but to be fair, the recent UFC promos, and posters have been looking much better than what we’re used to…
and yeah, now that you’ve put it that way, I kinda agree.
by Anton Tabuena on Dec 23, 2010 12:17 PM EST up reply actions
i like this poster alot. i am just bummed it doesnt feature the fact that 2 championships are on the line….

I think the design looks fine, but the bottom part needs work, and like you said, should've mentioned the two titles there...
it’s definitely not as bad as some people say it is, but See what I mean? I like it better like this:

Say what you want about Strikeforce
but their posters DESTROY the UFC’s. Have you guys seen that orange abomination for Fitch and Penn?

or this?

Honestly, the coolest one the UFC has done in a while was

Big fan of SF’s poster designs.

Someone the other day said it looks like an old Wrestling VHS, and it does. Except it’s more like some backyard hardcore wrestling shit with fat kids in jean shorts jumping off there roofs.
It also looks like one of those bootlegs people set down on the sidewalk and try to sell you in midtown Manhattan

This isn’t the best poster I’ve ever seen, but it’s a nice upgrade from the UFC’s poster-by-numbers.
Twitter: @Mike_Fagan_13
Also they bumped the red in that picture of him so you have a classic design consisting of black, white and red
It’s a good poster and much more exciting than a traditional UFC poster which are stale in comparison
I think someone can make the argument that Jacare
is the most dangerous fighter at 185, and would be a pretty stern test for Silva.
Colin Cowherd is more annoying than the Progressive radio commercials.
If Jacare stood a chance getting it to the mat. Silva is fighting his toughest test at 185 coming up

give me a break
its a moot point. who buys a ppv or mma ticket because of a poster? If you do, I’ve got a poster of the brooklyn bridge to show you.
Fail Strikeforce
This poster gives zero insight in to who’s fighting who. It looks like midget Lawler vs 3 guys while avenging his fathers death.
"When I beat Wanderlei I’m a take his belt, pull his pants down and spank him for being so ugly" - Quinton Jackson
Poster looks nice visually imo
