SRC: "Soul of Fight" Complete With Addition of Dan Hornbuckle vs Ryo Chonan and Megumi Fujii vs. Emi Fujino

Photo

Unlike their counterparts at DREAM, SRC has already finalized the fight card for their year end event. World Victory Road has announced two additional bouts to round up their Dec 30th show, Sengoku: Soul of Fight.

Former UFC and PRIDE fighter, Ryo Chonan, this time, will be representing DREAM in a contest marketed as another "SRC vs. DREAM" bout. He will be taking on Sengoku vet and Bellator finalist, Dan Hornbuckle.

Also announced, was Emi Fujino, taking on the long time top female fighter, Megumi Fujii. Emi has lost 4 of her last 5 bouts by decision, and while she has never been stopped in her career, it looks like they're trying to give Fujii an easy rebound from her first career loss against Bellator Champ, Zoila Frausto.

The finalized card of Sengoku's year end event is after the jump.

Japan's all about value.

Makes me wish that I was still in the area.

I can’t really decide if this is totally awesome, or just stupidly long, or a little of both, but the card certainly lives up to the name “Soul Of Fight”

I thought Bellator tournament winners as well as runner-ups (Hornbuckle) had exclusive contracts with the org? Or did they allow him to go get a fight to keep busy?

apparently so

Dave Herman is (I believe) under contract to Bellator as well.

They are spanning the whole world of WMMA here. From the totally awesome in the Modafferi vs. Akano fight. To the completely ridiculous in the Rin (9-0) vs Hari (6-22-1). From the best fighter Fujii to well Hari. Fujii is obviously going to win her fight. But I am not entirely convinced it will be a crushing. Well maybe an amputation.

I am just really glad to see the women fighters getting onto this kind of a platform in Japan. The women have been coming over to North America and been doing better than the men in most cases. But back home they have mostly gotten third rate attention. Nice to see them get a chance to shine.

So do the Grandprix winner is awarded the WW title right, since it is vacant?
