Sadly true
He talks about a lot of good things in this video, but he is unbearably boring.
"I'll rock your body with big nasty hooks!"
25 wins
3 knockouts, 4 submissions, 18 decisions. Is there anyone in the UFC with a worse finish rate? (28%)

You're the first person who probably said that McKee has a boring personality...
(unless you have only seen this one vid of him)

No, I'm black
So that shit was played out to me.
I’ve seen a bunch of his videos, the man is just extremely boring to listen to.
"I'll rock your body with big nasty hooks!"
to each his own I guess.
I’ve always enjoyed Mckee’s personality… but yes, I’ve also enjoyed most of his bouts, so I guess I’m not that good of a judge on that. haha.

Filt, I'm white
and your color means nothing to me.
I’ve seen his last fight, the man was extremely impressive to me. If all of his fights going forward are like the last one, then I’m definitely jumping on the Antonio McKee bandwagon.
Uhh,
how about the UFC number 1 contender?
2 TKOs ( 20 %)
8 Decisions ( 80 %)
He’s 10-0 with an 7 fight decision streak.

When you're battling it out with Gray Maynard
for most boring fighter in the UFC, you must be pretty boring.
"I'll rock your body with big nasty hooks!"
To be fair,
Gray’s personality is even more boring as his fighting style… At least McKee has his personality, and 2 fight finish streak! ;)
If anyone is interested, here’s his “MTV Cribs”-ish video:

Good one
Gray is such an appropriate name. He could make a story about a drunken knife fight in Tijuana boring.
I think McKee’s good enough to finish when he wants to, at least against the competition he’s been fighting.
I don’t see many guys in the UFC who can deal with his wrestling. Maybe Gray, BJ, Diego, Frankie. Outside of those guys, McKee is gonna be able to use his style to rack up W’s. His striking’s not too shabby either. He can definitely defend himself.
"I'll rock your body with big nasty hooks!"
Ha!
He could make a story about a drunken knife fight in Tijuana boring.
Oh man, I’m so using that at Christmas dinner.

McKee would wrestlefuck Kamal. Kamal does way too much headhunting. It's predictable as hell.

but he does have strong wrestling.
"In this fight, Anderson showed he was human," Nogueira said. "He showed he could be weak. But he showed he is a fighter and he brings something from his heart. It was beautiful."

I would say Fitch, but he has 5 KOs, 5 SUBs and 13 Decisions.

Meh, finish rate be damned.
What’s important is that the guy wins his fights.
Honestly, I’m looking forward to seeing what McKee does with his debut fight.
PS: And this video’s music, it hurts.

The mere fact it took him this long to make the UFC
Is proof positive that finish rate matters a lot.

It may not count much in terms of athletics...
But, Antonio seems like a fantastic guy. He appears to be a really positive role model and also seems (and I stress seems here) to be secular in his actions.
I have nothing against fantastic people that do good for the benefit of society and then attribute their works to a higher being, but as an atheist, it’s nice to see someone do charitable work and not bring any aspect of religion into it.
I sincerely hope Tony succeeds in the UFC, but at his age I’m not holding my breath.
McKee is the Bernard Hopkins of MMA.

did you just compair BHop and McKee?
You know Hopkins did a long stint in jail right? Did you also know that he was purportedly a rapist of men while in prison? Its been said that he was a particularly cruel man with some unfortunate biological “gifts”.
Rapist with a huge schlong is a far cry from charitable man trying to make a difference in a bad community.
by Schwizzles on Dec 20, 2010 6:57 AM EST via mobile up reply actions
I was gonna say that
The man is a notorious MALE rapist. Not that its any worse, but it is weirder.

I guess I have been living under a rock...
I had no clue that McKee had signed with the UFC. Call him boring, but the dude is legit.
Also, recently he took the “boring” talk to heart and made it a point to start finishing fights. Hopefully he’ll keep it going. With Fitch, Maynard, Shields and a few others running around, the UFC doesn’t need another boring fighter.
by DisposableHeroX on Dec 19, 2010 9:18 PM EST reply actions
As boring as his fighting style has been
I think he showed us what he is capable of.
I’ll admit i was shocked when he opened up in his last fight with some elbows and punches and basically destroyed the guys head in seconds. He just needs to do that in some journeyman UFC fights and im sure they will find a spot for him.
Like
Haven’t seen the whole vid but via past interviews, his point of view on his style is refreshing. Be boring, I don’t care. It’s up to the other guy to defend it.
Antonio Mckee iPhone App
To all,
Antonio Mckee has a iPhone app with exlucsive content.

damn.
the guy really is a self-promoter. Other UFC guys should be picking up on stuff like these so they could market themselves better.

Yeah, I know that.
BJ is the only other guy I know with his own iphone app, but he whores BJPenn.com all the time anyway, so I’m not really surprised.

Probably not the brightest idea to use the UFC’s logo in his app.
He gets to use a recognisable brand to attract attention to himself, and at the same time inreases recognition of the brand; it’s win – win, and I doubt thatt he UFC will bother him about it.

Please wait a minute
Before you judge his UFC career which hasn’t started yet. He finished his last two with one submission and one TKO. As far as we know he might go on and finish his next ten.
Shit, i hate this mentality. Often it’s like “Yeah, we judge a guy by his last 2-3 fights and then call him boring”. But now you whiny ass fans choose to ignore his last two fights and instead look at his other fights just to be able to call him boring.
Make up your mind.

Strength of Schedule
He submitted a guy who is .500 and gets submitted a lot.
He wrecked a fairly small lightweight with a wicked cut.
Volkmann (a friend of mine so I am super biased) is a wicked wrestler with a lot more submission game than he has shown so far against fighters way tougher than anyone McKee has fought yet (Kampann, Paulo Thiago, Torres, Kelly).
McKee has a great record. I think his hype train is bigger than it needs to be though. Should be a fun fight!
For those who don't consider UFC 'sport'...
…look at this guy. I don’t like his style but he deserves a shot.
I remember McKee wrestling in high school
but he only won 1 state title (in 88)…he could be talking up freestyle as well. As for undefeated for 3 years, highly suspect.
