that’ll stop all calls for him to be in the ufc.

Peter Graham is a skilled kickboxer and Aleks stood with him for awhile. Couple that with the fact I don’t even consider this a real MMA fight via they had a 30 second ground rule.

Well if u knew ur MMA better

than maybe u would know that Aleksander is diagnosed with hepatit B (http://fiveouncesofpain.com/2008/07/23/report-aleksander-emelianenko-tests-positive-for-hep-b/) which will never allow him to fight in US. So that was ruled out from the beginning my friend.

And if you dont know, now you know..... !

by Rebel Ape on Dec 18, 2010 10:06 PM EST up reply actions

What’s “hepatit B” ?

Alexanders good, but signing with the UFC? hmm, nah i don’t believe that. and i didn’t believe that before i watched this.

I dont think Aleks would be worthy of being in the ring with

Ken Shamrock…

Since when was Aleks ever even average??

When has he been top 100??

Aleks is good at spelling his older brothers last name just like Eli is!

Not too surprising. Peter Graham is a beast kickboxer and, for some reason, Aleksander always plays his opponent’s game. 1+1=2

"Referees, be sure to step in and stop the fight on time tomorrow, because I might get carried away in the moment and my many punches may end up destroying my opponent." - Tatsuya "CRUSHER" Kawajiri

by andrew861 on Dec 18, 2010 6:14 PM EST reply actions

But you gotta admit...

..that it’s an upset. Graham’s a brawler while Aleks has fast, accurate hands with power behind them. He’s also got a background in a grappling art, unlike Graham who is a kickboxer with a submission weakness who hasn’t fought at a top level in his own sport for 3 years.

by ToffeeA on Dec 18, 2010 6:56 PM EST up reply actions

Graham is a legit striker, though past his prime had Aleks in his world.

couldn’t tell with the shorts on, but it looked like it may have hyper extended the knee a bit.

aleks was never going to go over to a major promotion anyway

and why would he stand with peter graham? every one of grahams losses in mma is some sort of submission, u think he woulda picked up on that trend

30 second ground rule and Aleks is a retard

'cause the heart that betrays itself willingly, Is like a nation that trades freedom for stability, its so seductive to be cold and corrupted and isolated and try to be an independent republic, But liberty to be loved on the surface is worthless, The sacrifice of revolution with no purpose

by ImmortalTechnique92 on Dec 18, 2010 7:07 PM EST up reply actions

Well, if there was some idiotic 30 second ground rule, and I had a history of having fast, powerful hands, I’d probably go with trying to knock him out too. It wouldn’t be worth it to use so much energy taking him down when you only have 30 seconds to work once you’re there, what happens when you’re gassed and are stuck standing up?

From the looks of things, Aleks was doing pretty good until that kick.

STD?

Does Aleks really have HIV or Hep C? I heard something like that but I’m not sure how reliable is the source.

If so, how is he cleared to fight any fight? This sport often turns bloody and someone catching something sounds like a real & present danger.

The rumor was legit up until someone close to the emelianenko’s posted a photocopy of a document saying Aleks was clean. Still don’t know how comfortable I’d be fighting him if I was a fighter though.

I like aleks

but igor posting that clean bill of health from a doctor in the middle of nowhere italy doesnt sit well with me. Considering the polish fighting org leaked that aleks tested positive for hep c and affliction not allowing him to be licensed. He’s putting alot of people in danger by doing this if he knows fully well that he is positive.

by chunkyass on Dec 18, 2010 7:22 PM EST up reply actions

At first I just saw the 3-5 record

and was like, What the fuck Aleks. Then I looked at the opponent again: “Oh – Peter Graham? That Peter Graham?”

by crazybones on Dec 18, 2010 7:36 PM EST reply actions

Crazy rules for this,

the fighters would be stood up after 30 seconds on the ground. That pretty heavily tilts the favor there.

Needless to say, Aleks will never fight in the USA, and will probably retire within 2 years anyways.

Isn’t it kind of weird the CSAC would reveal Sonnens medical condition of Gonadism yet they won’t confirm if Aleks has Hep C?

by Phildo on Dec 19, 2010 11:20 AM EST up reply actions

They’re still both medical conditions, I don’t see why one can be revealed and not the other.

by Pandanus on Dec 19, 2010 8:25 PM EST up reply actions

The CSAC didn’t reveal Chael’s. Chael revealed Chael’s.

by Phildo on Dec 19, 2010 11:53 PM EST up reply actions

CSAC never revealed any of Sonnen’s medical information, Gonadism was Sonnen’s defense at the hearing. Heck the whole issue was that CSAC was never informed that Sonnen had a medical condition.

Again, ultra bad journalism (for the people who don’t speak russian).

The author could have at least defined the context (was it an MMA fight, special rules, etc).

after witnessing emelianenko lose scott coker immediately engaged in complicated negotiations with him for a fight

by hewsdaddy on Dec 19, 2010 1:55 PM EST reply actions

Having just seen the full fight, yeah it's pretty sad.

Emelianenko was basically winning but was hurt bad by a late leg kick early in the first. Round ended to save him on the ground.

Round 2: Graham knocks him down by a leg kick again, but can’t finish him in 30 seconds so they’re stood up. Graham leg kicks, GNPs for 30 seconds, stood up. Leg kicks, GNPs, and this time, Emelianenko can’t even get up when teh 30 seconds expired, resulting in the Graham win.

Must’ve been powerful leg kicks, but just an odd ruleset.

by garik16 on Dec 19, 2010 9:47 PM EST reply actions

The 30 second ground rule may have hurt Aleks in a way we didnt expect (being stood up when Aleks was on the bottom). If there was no 30 second time limit it could have not only gave Aleks more time to set up a sweep or submission but it would have given him alot more time to recover from those leg kicks rather than having to stand up every 30 seconds to get kicked again. Oh well I personally dont think that a fight with altered rules should be considered an MMA fight just simply because this time limit has put certain martial arts at a disadvantage. Oh well, shit happens and hopefully Aleks moves past this.

by DCJon. on Dec 20, 2010 6:39 PM EST up reply actions

@Mike Fagan 13: Ok, maybe I got carried away a bit.

Anyhow, weird rules but Aleks would have lost in even more dramatic fashion in a real MMA fight… sad.
