I think GSP has 2 more fights at WW prob. against Shields/Fitch then he vacates the belt and moves to 185.
Josh looked like he did when he fought Alves. He got beat early, and just seemed to break. He looked very worried at the end of the second round. He threw zero leg kicks, and his supposedly very improved striking looked..just not good.
It was great to see Mac get a big win like that over Joe. What are some potential good matchups for him? Do you see him moving to 145?

GSP's leg = broken
I think the real reason this fight wasn’t finished was GSP’s right shin. He complained about it between rounds 2-3 after Kos checked a kick. He threw one right kick in the third round, and didn’t throw another until 10 seconds left in the fight. Everything he threw was left inside kick.
I’m calling it – we find out tomorrow or Monday that GSP’s leg is busted. Thoughts?

Since GSP failed to finish Kos, is this considered another unimpressive performance?

He absolutley man handled a Top 5 welterweight for 25 minutes. I think that’s more impressive than landing one big shot and getting a guy out of there in 30 seconds. He made an elite fighter look helpless for 25 minutes. That’s really, really hard to do.

after this fight.. the opposite
Kos did get a takedown when he pushed hard for it. shields will NOT hang out and try to standup with gsp in the 1st -5 th round.. I see shields probably losing.. but I also see him actualy pushing the fight where Kos never got off.. similar to fitch getting shut down. I really think both are better fighters but they lost confidence from early setbacks in their fight.
shields would never go in with a game plan thinking his striking will work for nothing but to setup takedowns. That is what kos needed at least somewhere in this fight.
On the reverse
GSP won’t have to worry about the striking, and it’s hard to move foward when your getting consistently popped in the face by the P4P stiffest jab ever (lol)….plus Kamp stuffed Shields :/

and GSP won’t get submitted by Silva the way Sonnen got submitted. No way GSP gives it to him.
This talk about all these MWs being so capable of beating GSP is ridiculous. MW has long been considered the weakest division in the sport.
GSP would own Silva, he shouldn’t fight anyone else at MW until he has the strap and is defending the belt.
While i certainly enjoyed the heavy dose of condescending insults in your response, unfortunately it is you who is in the wrong. You saying he’s ducking a murderer’s row of MWs is blatantly false. This is a division where Henderson was considered number 2 for a long time then lost badly to a natural WW. Maia?! really? What has he EVER done which would remotely indicate him even being competitive with GSP…Submitted zero sub defense Chael Sonnen (who, by the way, was 2 minutes from being champion against the supposed “p4p king” despite basically BEGGING to be armbarred by Silva for 25 minutes). Marq has proven time and time again incapable of beating elite fighters. Name one elite fighter still at MW he’s beaten. Okami is OK, nothing special. He’s strong, with good takedown defense but his striking basically consists of 1-2, 1-2, 1-2. There is no reasonable argument to made that MW has more talent than WW; the only thing which you could logically argue is more of a “test” at MW is that he would be at a size disadvantage in many fights, but I honestly think size is overrated pretty often. In no sense is he “ducking” MW just because he hasn’t beaten everyone there yet.
And I’m not getting “carried away” because of GSP’s latest performance—I’ve always said he would own Silva, which given Silva’s non-existent wrestling, really isn’t much of a stretch. After that, subsequent fights against more difficult match-ups would be title defenses.

The idea that MW has some sort of murderers’ row of fighters is laughable. GSP could do exactly what he does to everyone at WW at MW. It baffles me that people still think that moving up could even possibly be difficult for GSP (e.g., most recently, Snowden) when Shields has had the success he’s had at MW, against one of the supposed best wrestlers at MW, to boot.
Silva / GSP is a mismatch. Silva does not have elite TDD and cannot get off his back once put down; GSP has the best wrestling in MMA.

What do you think was going through Koschecks mind after the 2nd round? Could you compare it to the Alves fight where he started getting beat early and looked visibly worried. Of course the eye injury played a major role but if Koscheck needed to do anything tonight to beat GSP, what was it?

Awesome Card from Top to Bottom
People were complaining about how weak this card looks b4 hand, but look at what we got. An amazing fight card with more than half of the telvised card being finishes and for the fights that weren’t, they would of been contenders for FotN bonuses on any other fight night.
Co-Main Event had less notable fighters but still a decently exciting come from behind victory for the sky-scraper.
Great Main Event even thou it was one sided. It did show that GSP can still strike, never mind that it has improved vastly.
This card was well worth my money and time. My Friends and family throughly enjoyed it.
