Joe Stevenson kept charging forward at Mac Danzig and he kept getting caught. The third time Danzig caught him perfectly on the chin and put Stevenson out flat on his face at 1:54 of the first round.

Danzig caught Stevenson charging in early. Stevenson began to connect with over hand rights. Then suddenly Danzig dropped him with a a left hook.

The two former Ultimate Fighter season winners met in the second PPV fight at UFC 124.

For Joe Stevenson, the #17 ranked lightweight in the world per the USAT/SBN Consensus MMA Rankings, this fight was a much needed opportunity to reclaim his place as a gatekeeper to the elite ranks of the division after a one-sided loss to George Sotiropoulos at UFC 110.

For Danzig, this fight was a last chance to hang on in the UFC lightweight division. The winner of the sixth season of The Ultimate Fighter, he's been on the chopping block since dropping three straight in 2008-2009. A win over Justin Buchholz was followed by a submission loss to Matt Wiman that the UFC brass regarded as a dubious call by the ref.
