Some people are now saying that Alistair Overeem is the best MMA striker thanks to his big K-1 win. Personally i think this is kind of insane for a number of reasons, not the least of which is that people are using K-1 striking to quantify an opinion regrading MMA striking, despite that they are two very different styles with different rules. I could go on but i don’t want to turn this into a rant, so what’s your take? Is Overeem the best and most skilled striker in MMA?
Also, what’s your opinion on one-night tournaments? in my view they should just go away. Alistair was in like one legit fight all night. Peter Aerts and especially Gokhan Saki never really had a fair shake against Overeem thanks to their previous fights.

I don’t think it’s really fair to blame Overeem because his opponents were tired from previous matches, he was in the same situation but seemed to pace himself

He just won the competition where the world’s elite strikers compete against one another to be the best – you know, in striking. Without ground-play. So…not sure what else you would call that?

I noticed that about Aldo too.
He’s starting to get the Anderson Silva feeling out period, focus on his head movement, strike from distance, wait for a mistake to capitalize on. Not a bad thing, but he’s not the wreckingball of insanity he was before the title.

Since the other two have to be Toronto and Montreal.
Calgary is a pretty awesome town though. When the Flames do well in the playoffs, the “red mile” draws around a 100, 000 person party after the games. It’s a pretty beautiful city too.

Struve has a good chance of challenging for a title
with easy matchmaking and a thin, split division. Heavyweight has different standards.
