Fight of the night. Frye-Takayama style

by disinferno06 on Dec 11, 2010 7:24 PM EST up reply actions

Wow

Nice bonuses. Dana’s trying to motivate his way out of the recent decision fest.

by dribblebib on Dec 11, 2010 6:32 PM EST up reply actions

OH WTF! I just read, the money is SPLIT between the people, not per fighter

by disinferno06 on Dec 11, 2010 7:03 PM EST reply actions

Also the fans get to choose which fight is FOTN

by IRodC on Dec 11, 2010 7:11 PM EST up reply actions

I’m guessing the fan voted FOTN bonus of $100k(50k per fighter) is in addition to the other 3 normal bonuses. Just cause the PPV bonus money for Fight, Sub, and KO has been above 50k for a long time and I see no reason for them to lower those bonuses to 50k for this event that is breaking gate and attendance records.

Just BE.

How Come the Website Won't Let me Vote Anymore?

The fights were over about 20 minutes ago and I can’t even vote for FotN. Was I too late and voting happen that fast? I just got home.

It thanked me for my vote and I didn’t realise I was clicking anything, so there you go.

Kos - GSP

Dana said he thought it was one of the prelim fights. I wasn’t paying attention yet alas, didn’t hear which one.

by Nanoob on Dec 12, 2010 1:22 AM EST up reply actions

I believe he thought Sean Pearson vs Matt Riddle was FOTN. That is probably why they showed it on the ppv broadcast.

by Tats16 on Dec 12, 2010 1:48 AM EST up reply actions

FOTN: GSP vs. Kos

I hope alves/howard and riddle/pierson get a nice locker room bonus check. They deserve something for entertaining fights.

by chunkyass on Dec 12, 2010 1:39 AM EST up reply actions   1 recs

Dana mentioned taking care of the undercard guys.

by Nanoob on Dec 12, 2010 6:22 AM EST up reply actions

Yeah

Cause there is no way he is gonna get a KOTN or SOTN, you actually have to finish fights to get those so, they had to do a little something for him in his hometown.

He can beat you any way possible.

Am I missing anyone, btw?

I think that’s his finishing history in the UFC. Pretty impressive.

by SSreporters on Dec 12, 2010 1:51 AM EST up reply actions

Not missing any finishes, but I always like to mention that he FLOORED Fitch hard two (three?) times, and nearly ripped Hardy’s arm off. It’s hard to fault Georges for fighting guys who are inhumanly tough.

"I'm AJB and I endorse this nut-puncher."

by AJB on Dec 12, 2010 6:16 AM EST up reply actions

Inhumanly tough seems a little much, given that Hardy was knocked clean out in his very next fight and Koscheck’s striking became gif worthy against Paulo Thiago (albeit in a rather controversial stoppage).

"I see him beating Anderson Silva. I see him picking him apart. Him at a 131 years old...(trails off)." - Tito Ortiz on Vitor Belfort at Affliction:DOR

by Rundownloser on Dec 12, 2010 11:26 AM EST up reply actions

I didn’t mention Kos, and Hardy getting KO’d has very little to do with Hardy gritting through a wicked armbar and deep kimura.

"I'm AJB and I endorse this nut-puncher."

by AJB on Dec 12, 2010 12:32 PM EST up reply actions

I hate when people say this.

They were applied wrong !!!!!! Hardy should have been tapped. he had his hand ready and George couldn’t finish due to poor technique . Hardy being tough has little to do with it. The ref will stop the fight when the arm snaps. You dont need someone to tap. Tap , Snap or Nap all will get you a submission win. Snaps and Naps get you a “Technical submission”. by Phildo on Dec 12, 2010 8:25 AM EST up reply actions

Yeah because he’s never Ko’d or sub’ed people before. And quickly finishing someone with maybe big quick punch is more impressive then dominating them for 25 minutes. You make all the sense.

You're right...

…..Because a challenger who got outclassed and pummeled for 5 rounds by a dominant champion who didn’t get so much as a scratch on him the entire 5 rounds is sooooo boring.

by ultima0chaotic on Dec 12, 2010 2:12 AM EST up reply actions

yeah

It is. It wasn’t much of a fight. No drama like Santiago vs Mizaki, or Silva vs Sonnen.

No back and forth.

No super exciting moments.

At least when BJ Penn dominated a guy he would lick his gloves and open some bleeding gash.

Not saying it wasn’t a dominant performance, or that GSP isn’t great….I just don’t like watching him fight.

Kos vs. GSP FOTN?

I wouldn’t call that competitive, but I don’t think Koscheck is gonna complain getting an extra 100K for being a punching bag for 25 minutes.

Prob not the right place and time. No FWs on the card. 125 will get more of those b/c of WEC fighters’ debuts.

GSP/KOS being FOTN? fuck that!

Alves/Howard was a better fight than the main event, they just got it because of all the Canadian votes.

FOTN chosen by fans seems like a terrible terrible decision.

It seems like the main event or more popular main card fighters will get the award more often now.

by jebmak on Dec 12, 2010 10:34 AM EST reply actions

Dana is insane if he thought Pierson vs Riddle was FOTN. What a sloppy display of boxing.

Dana really has to stop rewarding these sloppy boxing fests, those do nothing to show how great these athletes are, and how technical they’ve become. Ugh.
