Makes no sense to me

Hey UFC4 go fuck yourself, how about that? Fucking punk, I was just asking for the source that says lesnar gets 5 mill a fight, it’s obvious one does not exist. Bunch of gabronis on a site pulling figures out of your ass.

Since when do you have to be licensed to coach?

You have to be licensed to be a "second"

Wtf?

I don’t think they can do that. If you don’t have to be licensed to train, how in the world are you going to tell people you have to be licensed to coach? Just find some fighters who are in the US and aren’t licensed, that train other people. See if Josh Barnett has given a seminar in the US in the past year. I’m sure there are examples.

Seems to me like Kizer is doing this to spite Chael for lying. Can anyone confirm the rules?

Kizer is probably going to say that since Sonnen is a coach, he will be cornering fighters, and as such must be licensed.

That’s the only explanation I can think of.

This isn’t unprecedented. Sonnen would be cornering fighters and I’m almost certain that the NSAC banned Nick Diaz from cornering Nate at the TUF Finale in 2007 when Nick was suspended after the Gomi fight.

Kiser has have no power to stop Sonnen from training fighters but it’d look bad on the UFC’s end if they tried to explain during the season why Sonnen was training fighters but not cornering them.

I thought that it was the UFC that banned Diaz? Or atleast thats what I thought Nate said after his fight, I could be wrong though…

by Fedorable on Dec 10, 2010 3:13 AM EST up reply actions

Can’t remember what Nate said but this link, among others, suggests it was NSAC who made the call. I wouldn’t think UFC can choose who corners fighters, otherwise I’m sure Randy would have been out in 2008.

He said the exact opposite, that the UFC was very open to Nick and had no problem with him being there, but he wasn’t cleared by the NSAC to corner him, If I recall right.

Huh?

The fights that he would be cornering on TUF aren’t even “real” fights right? Aren’t they considered exhibition fights? Seems like BS to me.

They are overseen by the commission

I don’t know the rules in Nevada because it’s not anything I’ve ever looked into, but it is a fact that you have to be licensed in California just to take part in sparring. I doubt there is a rule in Nevada that you have to be licensed to corner fighters though.

It is correct

NAC 467.895 Effect of suspension or revocation of certain licenses. (NRS 467.030)

     1. Every promoter and matchmaker shall take notice of the bulletins of suspension sent out by the Commission and shall not permit any person under suspension to take any part as a participant or in arranging or conducting contests or exhibitions during the period of suspension.

     2. A person whose license has been suspended or revoked by the Commission shall refrain from participating in or matchmaking or holding contests or exhibitions during the period of suspension or after the revocation.

     3. A person whose license has been suspended or revoked is barred from:

     (a) The dressing rooms at the premises where any program of unarmed combat is being held;

     (b) Occupying any seat within six rows of the ring platform or, if the program is being held in a fenced area, within six rows of the platform of the fenced area;

     © Approaching within six rows of seats from the ring platform or, if the program is being held in a fenced area, within six rows of seats of the platform of the fenced area; and

     (d) Communicating in the arena or near the dressing rooms with any of the principals in the contests or exhibitions, their managers, their seconds or the referee, whether directly or by a messenger, during any program of unarmed combat.

But I thought the TUF fights weren't even sanctioned by the athletic commissions...

Do those qualify as the mentioned “exhibitions” in the rules?

Looks like Sonnen won’t be coaching TUF then. His suspension won’t be up when filming is supposed to start in late January. What could the other options possibly be? Wanderlei and Leben? Edgar/Maynard winner and Henderson/Pettis winner?
