Props to Chris Nelson
I'm not sure if this is something that would fall into the category of "relevant to MMA", but I think it definitely falls into the category of "relevant to Bloody Elbow and its readers", so I thought it might be worth writing a quick fanpost about. Everyone's favorite Bloody Elbow Night Crew member, Mr. Chris Nelson, no longer writes for this here blog. I'm not privy to the reasons why obviously, but that doesn't really matter. This isn't about that.
I just wanted to thank @3amMMA personally for all he's contributed to BE, and especially for his much-needed emphasis on JMMA and news from overseas. He was a unique writer here, offering up articles and opinions about things that are largely neglected by most MMA websites. They will be missed.
In addition to that, he was the man that basically nurtured the entire idea of the BE Night Crew, which has really caught on with the masses here. It takes a rare (and slightly odd) man to actually want to stay up all night and liveblog Japanese MMA events, but a lot of us here are very thankful for your dedication. I like to think of this place as a big community, and I can't think of anything that that helped build that feeling of community more (at least for me) than those liveblogs where we all acted like goofs while enjoying a common interest.
Again, thanks for all your hard work. It was and is much appreciated, and I hope someone steps up here to attempt to fill your shoes. I'm not sure if BE is accepting applications, but there has to be a nocturnal MMA fan or two willing to write a liveblog, right? Nate's not getting any younger, he needs his sleep!
The FanPosts are solely the subjective opinions of Bloody Elbow readers and do not necessarily reflect the views of Bloody Elbow editors or staff.

This is a total bummer. It was hard enough to get people to look past a North America centric viewpoint in MMA even with a moderator who focuses on it.
Now it’s going to be twice as difficult without Nelson to further discussion. :(
I wouldn't
say the sky is falling just yet. The community here at BE is pretty smart, way above the average of MMA blogger/ forum goers.
BTW, I think Chris Nelson is working at Sherdog, I’ve seen him write a few articles over there

It’s not something scandalous or anything, he just moved on. I hope people don’t focus on that side of things, it’s really not important or dramatic. I’ve just commented here for a long time, and figured he deserved some props for his contributions.

Wasn't looking for a scandal, just curious.
Always liked the perspective he brought to the table. Unfortunately it never seemed like his posts got any attention.
Any idea where he’s at now?

Justice League Assemble
still works, honestly. And you and I are about to have an e-fight about your DC talk. They have some of the best writers in the business. Batmand and the re-streat of the JLA has been amazing. Blackest Night was the best super hero “event” in years, if not ever.
"Don’t quote old fucks to me" – Brent Brookhouse
Was a fan of Blackest Night and the 57 spectrums of Light Lanterns
Then again I’m not a fan of “Events” in Comic Books. Secret Six has been the only thing I could read from DC. The latest incarnation of The Thunderbolts is better though.

Was or Wasn't?
I’m usually not either because they suck bawls (I have to add an emotion exception to Infinity Gauntlet. Shit made my childhood and I’ve loved Thanos ever since)
Secret Six is great. All of the Bat family titles are killer (not Batgirl). WW had been good until recently. The only thing Marvel makes anymore that I can even read is the Ultimate line and Hulk stuff.
I guess I’ll just go full geek at this point… Lately I’ve been reading mostly offbrand stuff. Luna Brothers. Locke & Key. Walking Dead. Anything by Radical or written by Warren Ellis.
"Don’t quote old fucks to me" – Brent Brookhouse
Wasn't*
To the non-comic book readers out there The Hulk stuff is good. Thunderbolts is very good. Stay away from anything that is Wolverine or Daken (which was kind of good at 1st). “I Am An Avenger” has been surprisingly enjoyable as well.

Will he actually be "editing?"
Because Sherdog’s editing is absolutely atrocious, some of the worst I’ve ever seen for any media site. MMA Junkie’s is pretty awful, too. They have some great writers, and I enjoy the content, but there’s so many errors that make it hard for me to take it seriously.
And then God created Saturn... and he liked it, so he put a ring on it.

Glad somebody else said it...
…hate to be That Guy, but the zillions of typos on every single Junkie article do in fact make their site “hard to take seriously”……it’s much better to post content which is easy to read, than to simly post it “first”….
BE is still the best….best of luck to Chris Nelson in his new endeavor….

Wow, thanks a lot, everybody. This put a smile on my face. It’s been a real pleasure writing for the site these past few years, staying up late and covering shows in varying states of semi-consciousness. I know I said this on Twitter, but I’d like to reiterate how thankful I am to Luke and Nate for giving me a chance and bringing me on staff when I had virtually no experience covering MMA.
Thanks also to everyone who was ever part of the Night Crew and made the live-blogging of eight-hour Dream shows more bearable.
I’m sure I’ll be back here commenting at some point when time allows, but until then, don’t be strangers.

Rap isn’t that far off from spoken-word performances of the beats, who’d recite poetry to a drum beat, a practice they picked up from hanging out in jazz clubs. Much of that music evolved from blues, which came from various African chants & call-and-response songs.
