Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition (also known as pdl)

The alternative punchline was Fight Night 12, Swick vs. Burkman. But UFC 122 is a fucking weak card, free or not.

Because the co-main is so compelling.

With Sakara sporting a career featuring stoppage losses to Chris Leben, Houston Alexander, AND Drew McFederies with his best win being 185 Zombie Irvin fighting against a 38 year old who has beaten nobody relevant ever. Awesome card.

And Maybe Okami vs. Marquardt would be compelling if they both hadn’t been thrashed by Chael and maybe Nate had done something inspiring since then.

why do people think they deserve a co-main all the time?

wait

okami got it worse though nate almost won at the end of that fight. okami got bullied the whole match he did nothing positive but getting back up. nate hardly got back up when taken down. attacked from the bottom with elbows in the 3rd round almost choked him out. chael the juice is loose sonnen when is he suppose to be back anyway.

Curse you – Sakara has won three straight, as has his opponent.

I forgot about that murderers row Sakara faced

of Vedepo, splitting a snoozefest against Leites, and the skeleton of James Irvin. How many of those guys are still in the UFC? I guess Rivera can hang his hat on that win over fellow old man Nate Quarry.

Or maybe you think two guys who aren’t prospects that you personally say are #13 and unranked respectively (yup, I went there), is a UFC caliber co-main event?

Fight Night 12 was the worst free show I've seen

Swick/Burkman was awful and so was Omigawa/Tavares.

I loved watching that fight.

Bonnar always puts on a show. He’s a decent fighter at best but he’s done more for the sport than 80-90% of any ufc fighter in the history of the organization.

by budgellism on Nov 6, 2010 11:38 PM EDT up reply actions

you know why i like bonnar

win or lose you are always going to see a good fight.

by BIGNAT on Nov 7, 2010 8:31 AM EST up reply actions   1 recs

I think it’s because SpikeTV are still pissed at Grove for his comments about them and TUF a couple of months back. Remember, they pulled him from Spike prelims to un-televised undercard..

If that stuff hadn’t happened, I’d have to assume Maia – Grove would be headlining. Sure people know Bonnar, but Pokrajac? Noone at all knows who the fuck that is. And he’s definitely not a contender. In Maia – Grove you have a top 5 fighter, and a fairly entertaining TUF winner. That would normally be main event for sure.

by Horselover Fat on Nov 7, 2010 4:52 AM EDT up reply actions

I guess so.

I was at 117 when these two had their last fights respectively

and they were both very impressive. I think Story is more well rounded but Hendricks will be able to dictate where the fight goes with his wrestling….I think Hendricks has the edge but Story is such a beast it really is a toss up.

You're missing out man..

This season is focused mostly on the training and the fights. And a lot of guys on the show look like they are going to have very bright futures. Brookins, Phan, Mackenzie, johnson and Wilkinson have all looked pretty good so far. It’s been the best season in a long time.

by budgellism on Nov 6, 2010 11:46 PM EDT up reply actions

Why?

Garcia is average at best. Sure it is exciting but they can typically air it later in the show if there are finishes. He lost his last fight, should have lost to Jung, had a draw against Roop and lost to Manny. He really isn’t main card material

by swells2048 on Nov 7, 2010 12:19 AM EDT up reply actions

Or not,

he’s a mediocre fighter, and all the main card spots are taken by fighters that rightfully deserve it, along with the TUF finalists.

I’d definitely do that. Branch has not looked very impressive, and comes off as one-dimensional. I didn’t expect Attonito to beat Natal, but he did, and Attonito looks much more well-rounded than Branch.

I wasn't all that entertained

in the Hominick fight, when all Leonard did was throw ugly haymakers that hit nothing but air, while making loud grunting noises.

He requires an opponent with poor defense, who’s willing to brawl, to make a fight entertaining, otherwise he just looks amateurish.

It’s going to be awkward when both Thiago Alves’s miss weight for the TUF final.

Not that I condone facism or any ism for that matter. Isms are in my opinion, not good. A person shouldn't believe in an ism, he should believe in himself.

I quote John Lennon, "I don't believe in Beatles, I just believe in me". Good point there, after all he was the walrus. I could be the walrus. Wouldn't change the fact I have to bum rides off of people.
