Rani Yahya vs. 'Korean Zombie' Chan Sung Jung at UFC Fight for the Troops 2
WEC featherweights Rani Yahya and Chan Sung Jung (a.k.a. "The Korean Zombie") will square off in their UFC debuts at "UFC Fight Night 23" on Jan. 22. The event, while not yet announced by the UFC, is expected to be a second "Fight for the Troops" fundraiser, and should take place at Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas.
The news comes courtesy of Yahya's manager, Wallid Ismail, who spoke with Fernando Kallas of Portal do Vale Tudo Radio:
In an interview to Fernando Kallas and Marcelo Alonso with Radio PVT, the weekly MMA radio show of the Portal do Vale Tudo in Portuguese, Wallid Ismail, the manager of Rani Yahya, confirmed that the Brazilian featherweight signed to fight the new WEC fan favorite Chan Sung Jung, also know as "The Korean Zombie".
"Rani is really excited to his first fight in the UFC. It will be on the Fight For the Troops card, on January 22nd, against the Korean Zombie. It’ll be a great fight and everything that Rani needed to bring a new motivation to his career."
With both men coming off back-to-back losses and seeking to secure future employ with Zuffa, this ought to be a hell of a fight. We'll see if Jung holds true to his word about abandoning his trademark "zombie" style.

Lets hope he didn’t abandon the Zombie Style. Going to the ground with Rani Yahya would be a bad idea.

WEC merger just keeps paying off.
Mike Goldberg: "You know Joe, When Matt and his brother Mark Hughes were growing up, they would pound each other behind the barn."
This card is shaping up nicely
Wonder if this will be a 3 hour show.
Michael Robinson leads the Seahawks in completion percentage, yards-per-attempt, and QB rating.
Doubt it....
this will probably be on the undercard…

The last FFTT was a three hour show
Because they had lots of celebrities telling people to donate. If they did that on a 2 hour show we’d get maybe two fights.
Michael Robinson leads the Seahawks in completion percentage, yards-per-attempt, and QB rating.
Did not know that....
didn’t get to see the last FFTT show on TV. I had to use my good friend Google for all the fights I wanted to see.

Maybe my favorite moment of the night was when Goldie said
“If you weren’t moved by what you’ve seen tonight, you’re not a human being.”
Then Rogan went on some weird rant against the government and “big business bullshit” in one of the interviews post-fight.

That sounds about right….

Interesting, why did Yahya decide to move back up to featherweight? Also, I hope Yahya takes this, his grappling is really wonderful to watch.
"Caol Uno was like Mutoh. He developed into a star overseas and then returned to his home country a much bigger deal. Dokonjonosuke Mishima is like Kobashi because they both do moonsaults. Don Frye is like Stan Hansen because they are both fat dumb rednecks with mustaches." - Jonathan Snowden
Nice.
See, Dana? Aren’t you glad you did the merger?

Every Card
With all of the WEC fighters in the fold, every card should improve significantly. Even better, the WEC guys should all be making more money as a result.
I like both of these guys alot but if it’s a ‘loser leaves town’ fight then I hope Yahya wins, especially now that Jung says he is changing his style.
i hope everyone is overestimating what he means by change his style. i don’t think he means he’s going to start LnPing, just that he knows he has to add some head movement and lateral motion and pick his spots a bit more instead of just walking straight into every exchange

My impression was that Jung was suggesting by "abandoning the Zombie style",
he’d be using his ground game more, instead of just standing and banging. Although against Yahya, that wouldn’t be a very good idea.
We’ll see if Jung holds true to his word about abandoning his trademark “zombie” style.

Either way, I'm rooting for Jung
I don’t care how he fights, he’ll always be the Korean Zombie
And if he pulls out a good victory here, breathing new life into his fighting career after being ‘killed’ by Roop…the nickname will apply in more ways than one.
But yes, every card is going to be better top-to-bottom.
Fights that would normally be on the main card of a ‘good’ PPV event are now being seen on free cards. Every type of event, Fight Nights, free-numbered, PPV…they are all going to get a step up in the quality of the fights.
CPG
I’m rooting for Jung to win. For one thing, he just never won in the WEC, so it would be nice to see him get a win in the UFC. He is obviously a fan favorite, and Dana was wearing a Korean Zombie shirt of an episode of TUF.
