UFC Returns to Sydney, Australia for UFC 127 on February 27th

Just over one year after the UFC's first trip Down Under, the promotion will return to Sydney, Australia on February 27th for UFC 127, according to MMA Fighting:

MMA Fighting has learned that UFC 127 will be held in Sydney, Australia on Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011 (Feb. 26 in North American time zones).

The event is likely to be held at the Acer Arena, site of UFC 110 in February 2010.

The UFC 110 card was headlined by Cain Velasquez knocking out Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, earning Velasquez the title shot he recently capitalized on to become UFC heavyweight champion.  That card set an attendance record for an international UFC event with 17,831 fans in attendance at the Acer Arena.

The only rumored fight for the card right now is a welterweight scrap between Carlos Condit and Chris Lytle (Lytle fought on the 110 card as well), news of which broke earlier today, but expect Aussie natives, George Sotiropoulos and Kyle Noke to make appearances, provided they're successful in their upcoming fights later this month.

Stay tuned to Bloody Elbow for more information on UFC 127 as the event develops.

That Condit vs. Lytle fight + G-Sot sounds like the makings of a good card.

After how poorly the last PPV performed

I doubt we will see a belt on the line there.

The way the PPV performed wasn’t due to the venue, it was more the lack of well-known-to-casuals-type-fighters on the card. That said, I highly, highly doubt they would put Cain v JDS anywhere except North America. Except of course Mexico… I’m pretty sure Cain is Mexican? I swear I’ve heard that somewhere before?

When G-Sot beats Lauzon

he’ll then fight in Australia in a title contender fight. I imagine it’ll be against someone like the loser of Henderson/Pettis or winner of Miller/Oliviera.
