Quote of the Day: Nate Marquardt Wants To Knock Wanderlei Silva Out
Marquardt talking to Fighters Only:
"After the fight and in recent days, Dana White has publicly criticized me for being a "choker" and not being aggressive enough. While Dana's comments were difficult to hear, I firmly believe that I am one of the best fighters in the world and will one day be the UFC middleweight champion.
However in hindsight Dana is right - in order to live up to my full potential and realize my championship dreams I need to be more aggressive and showcase my inherent killer instinct. I need to stalk my opponents, impose my will and finish fights on a consistent basis.
In order to re-establish myself as the number one contender, my next opponent needs to be an elite fighter who will stand and bang with me in the center of the Octagon until one of us is knocked out. The fight that makes the most sense to me is Wanderlei Silva. I have a ton of respect for Wanderlei and have wanted this fight for years, the fans have wanted this fight, they deserve to see two of the best fighters in the world in an all out war.
Wanderlei is an amazing fighter who is very aggressive, I will pursue him with unwavering tenacity, then I will knock him out! I promise the UFC, Dana, my fans, my team, my coaches and most importantly myself that never again will there be a question about my cage aggression."

lol
same old stuff from nate, trying to hand pick opponents
he should say he can knock anyone out, no matter the style
He is trying to take advantage of Dana’s BS instead of getting offended. You wanna see me stand & bang? Give me someone that won’t take me down, but someone with a name of course, give me Wanderlei. I’ll stand and bang all you want.
They see me rollin...

Nate calling Wandy out too...
On top of Akiyama, Leben, and Bisping…I wonder who’ll call Wandy out next?
There really aren’t too many big name/PPV draw UFC Middleweights outside of Anderson SIlva, Chael Sonnen, Wanderlei SIlva, and possibly Vitor Belfort (Leben is a fan favorite but I don’t know if that translates to PPV draws, and the same goes for Bisping, who’s the opposite of Leben in that he’s a heel). I think that Bisping would be a more winnable fight for Marquardt, and Bisping does have some name value.

I'm gonna guess...
Either he’d take him down and decision Wanderlei, or get KTFO’d haha

In my opinion, if Leben beats Stann than do Leben/Wand and look at Marquardt/Sakara that was originally gonna be on 116.
That sounds great.
What if Leben loses to Stann? Still give him Wandy? Does Stann get Wandy?

there are definitely fights I’d like to see ahead of this, but who in their right mind wouldn’t want to see Nate vs. Wand? Its FANtastic!

I’d like to see Marquardt fight Bisping.

Bisping asked for Marquardt for the Aussie card,
but apparently got fed up with Rivera’s trash talk and decided to take that fight instead.
Sakara won’t be healthy in time for that card? I’d rather see Rivera v. Sakara and Bisping v. Marquardt.
Oh well. Guess I can’t get everything I want.

Rivera vs. Sakara
I think that ship has sailed, after canceling two separate times. Looks like Joe Silva’s just gonna get over it ;)
He had asked to face Nate Marquardt next; the perennial contender had just lost a title eliminator bout against Yushin Okami on the very card that saw Rivera’s co-main event bout canceled due to the illness of opponent Alessio Sakara. Marquardt would be a smart fight to take. A win would move him closer to title contention.
But it wouldn’t satisfy his urge to silence Rivera.
“He’s acting like an [expletive], and nothing but an [expletive],” Bisping said. “He’s not being professional. He’s just being a prick.”
Bisping cannot beat Marquart.

While Dana’s comments may not have been 100% accurate about Jackson’s camp after the Marquardt fight they seem to be having 100% the effect Dana wanted them to have. Marquardt is saying he is going to do exactly what Dana expects him to do now in his next fight.
Just BE.
Marquadt is getting in front of this “boring fighter problem” thing, saying he gets the message loud and clear, and that he’s a company man by embracing “stand and bang”.
I shocked me when he literally said “stand and bang”. I thought that was an internet meme, didn’t know the fighters use that language too. I now eagerly await a fighter to complain of lay and pray or wall and stall.

Be more aggressive than Wanderlei Silva?
Is that what he’s trying to say? One of the few men to chew gum with Don Frye and live to tell about it?
People just keep calling Wandy out because he's prone to KO artists.
I hope Wandy knocks Nate’s teeth out if this fight is put together.
YOU ARE RIGHT
i think they should feed nate another grappler. give him munoz he will lose i no longer have faith in nate. he fount okami like a bitch now he is acting like one. please dana give me a guy who will stand and bang with me please. noooooooooo give him a strong grappler so i can laugh for 3 rounds while he tries to figure it out.
What say he gets a rematch
with Maia instead…

MW is thin, there aren’t a lot of good fighters for Marquardt to fight. Wandy is coming off a solid win and he has a huge name.

Enough calling out Wanderlei already
Christ, the guy isn’t even healthy yet. “I want that guy who’s injured and has lost 5 of 7!” Give me a break. These clowns should show some respect.
Everyone in the division wants to ride Wandy’s big name to the top so they call him out and act like its because they think he’ll be a great challenge. It’s pathetic. We can see right through it.
I’m gonna be hoping like hell Wandy knocks out whoever he fights next.

Seems Wand has lost his intimidating aura...
.. but a brutal knockout or two should fix that right up. Hope he smashes his next opponent, don’t care if it’s Nate.
