Now THIS will be a fun match to watch!

"BRING GERALD HARRIS BACK TO THE UFC!!!"
I actually wouldn't be terribly surprised
if Fisher takes Ross down and tries to sub him. Spencer’s BJJ is pretty solid, particularly off his back.
He mixed it up pretty well in his last fight in the UK.
Have to say this every time I see it.
- George Sotiropoulos vs. Dennis Siver
Shit fight.
And then God created Saturn... and he liked it, so he put a ring on it.
Twitter me and what not.
I disagree
Give G.S. a tough but beatable Siver, another win for Sot (prolly) and it keeps him active as he waits for the WEC/UFC LW title picture to clear up.
Good matchmaking IMO.

Give him a top 10 LW then
Enough of the gatekeepers.

Too risky.
The UFC wants a big money LW title fight in the future. Sot is their best bet, undefeated in the UFC, Austraillian, a finisher.
If they put him with say, KenFlo and he loses, they have to groom another challenger, and that could take a long time.

If he beats Siver he should get the title shot based on being 8-0 in the UFC
And to be fair I think Penn not being the champ directly affected the “who got next?” line of thinking. If Penn were the champ I am willing to bet that the Henderson/Pettis winner isn’t next in line.

How is it good matchmaking?
When he should be above anyone coming into the UFC from the WEC? He was supposed to get the title shot if he beat Lauzon, which he did, convincingly. It’s good matchmaking from a promotional standpoint, but not from a sport standpoint. “champion vs champion” will sell well, but we all know that they’re below the top ten of UFC LW, which Sotiropoulos is undoubtedly in. Not to mention Siver is below all of Sot’s last three opponents.

Not a shit fight.
A slight step down for George perhaps, but I don’t mind seeing him tested against a style he hasn’t faced yet (a good, heavy-handed striker).
Siver is below Joe Daddy, Pellegrino and Lauzon.

I guess …
I dunno. I’m not really primed for an argument, and I’ll be the first to admit I’m horribly biased, but I just want to see Sot get that title shot. I feel like Siver is going to be a first round sub win for Sot, and I actually like Siver a lot as well.

I mostly agree with you, especially about the likely outcome of the fight...
but George is a slow starter, and he was getting tagged repeatedly in the first round of the Lauzon fight. If Siver can land similar shots on him, he can turn his lights out.
Sot needs to stay active
cuz he wont get a title shot anytime soon.
Safe fight for Sot, big opportunity for Siver (Siver CAN win)

Their all decent strikers too
And Kurt dropped Sot with a knee. Be interesting to see what Siver could do

War Spencer!
My first novel is now available in trade paperback. Take a look: http://tinyurl.com/2ag7njo
I think Pearson takes this
Spencer didn’t look nearly as good as he used to when he fought Siver. Pearson maybe coming off a bad loss, but I think he has a lot more potential in the sport. Spencer has been around forever and while he is a decent gatekeeper I don’t think he’ll be around much longer. And I love Fisher
