Shane Carwin clarifies Twitter "controversy"
ProMMAnow.com: What’s the word on this Twitter thing about your account being blocked by the UFC?
Shane Carwin: No issue just over reactive bloggers. Laura (@UFC Twitter) and I have a great relationship. I was giving her a hard time and she was away from the account and did not see it. Lots of people jumped on without asking me (like you are doing). So it was really a non-event. I was giving them a hard time and they took a while to respond.
ProMMAnow.com: You mentioned on your Twitter, "What’s Scott Coker’s number?" Is Strikeforce a company you would like to fight for if you and the UFC did ever part ways?
Shane Carwin: My contract with the UFC will likely wind out my career and I have not thought much farther past the current contract. My focus is winning the UFC Title so I have to be in the UFC to do that. That part of the tweet was to a long time Team Carwin member who had just unfollowed me the day before. Being unfollowed doesn’t really mean anything but we monitor it. He was teasing me and I was teasing him. Notice I said anyone besides Bjorn who doesn’t seem to have Scott’s number. The fact is the UFC has been great to me. They have taken care of me above and beyond what they are contractually obligated to do. When my kid was born they sent a ton of stuff, they get us fighters Christmas presents and most importantly they have built the best stage in the sport of MMA. If you perform on their stage people will take notice of you.

What’s funny is that Carwin thought that people did. The issue was never whether it was a joke or not it was that making jokes about leaving the UFC for Strikeforce tends to get people in hot water with the UFC.
yeah, it was pretty obvious that it was a joke,
but Carwin was kinda dumb to suggest, even jokingly, that he wanted to talk to Coker.

Um, no, Shane. You see, he is asking you. That’s what an interview is. Regardless of if people were right to go all nuts with it (yes, it was dumb) doesn’t change the fact that, by it happening, it became a story. Lot’s of people began to wonder what it meant and what impact it would have, particularly the Coker line which wouldn’t be the smallest thing to tick off Dana. If he doesn’t want people to ever talk about his job, he should go back to just doing his day job, because people caring about what you do and say comes with the territory of UFC fighter, and answering those questions is part of the responsibility of being in the UFC.
It’s amazing how much worse he looks pretty much every time he comments publicly, these days.
Also, tracking unfollows is pretty much the saddest thing I have ever heard.

In hindsight, he may be saying you asked him, unlike them. That being said, if that is the case, it’s still hilarious that he gets upset people have the audacity to care what he puts on his twitter while also tracking people who unfollow him.

Maybe if Carwin would address his steroid issue..
..people would be able to ask him instead of jumping on him.
But since he won’t talk about it.. jump away.
Koscheck eats it.
