GSP vs Josh Koschek thoughts
Fight predictions
OK, so putting aside the fact that i hate almost everything about the way josh koschek is, as a fighter he is talented, BUT is he more talented than Gsp? Koschek can win if he catches Gsp with a good right, on the ground i truely believe Gsp's wrestling is too good, his jiu jitsu is also very good. So josh Koschek's chance is on the feet.
Gsp, This guy continually gets better, every fight he looks better than the fight before. Since that matt hughes loss and the bj penn battle he has just dominated this weight class. He has a great chance to win this fight in any aspect of his game, hes stronger, hes faster and more technical, just circle away from that power punch and you've got this one sir!
%70/%30 GSP!

GSP has way more diverse standup game than Kos (he just never has to use it very often). I think that, Kos is going to come out swinging wild haymakers at first and try to “Serra” him, but I don’t think Koscheck has the heavy hands or the boxing skills that Serra does to do that. Yes, the best way for Koscheck to beat GSP is to use his wrestling (his greatest strength) to put GSP on HIS back and try and get the TKO stoppage through some heavy GnP or the decision through generous amounts of LnP. He really doesn’t have any other options.
gsp vs kos
Good point, but do you think that kos has better wrestling than GSP?
I will take you down like a SWEET MUFFIN!!
True. GSP has never competed in wrestling proper, as far as I know
so his training would have focussed on those aspects of wrestling that have MMA relevance.
John Danaher explained this, to some degree, on the most recent episode of Aftermath. The fighters in any sport tailor their training to suit the scoring criteria of that sport. So, since jiu-jitsu competitions don’t reward points based on the amplitude of a takedown, there’s no benefit to jiu-jitsu players to learn big takedowns. Whereas, wrestlers can win matches based purely on big takedowns, so there is a large incentive for them to develop those skills.
I like using semi-colons; they make me feel smart.
Maybe not competed
but he trains with the Canadian Olympic wrestling team and was offered slot on the team if he wanted it. Basically, George is now actually among the worlds best in terms of straight wrestling, only turning down the position because he would have had to withdraw from the UFC to do it.
In all fairness
does being on the Canadian Olympic wrestling team make you among the world’s best?

Not necessarily
However,
However I think being asked to join any olympic team show some sort of aptitude.
Has anyone asked Koschek to be on the US team?
I’d like to see him on a debate team. “Male nurse!”

You think so? thats a tough call, because they both have a domination over trigg, which GSP completely out wrestled and kos knocked him out, Gsp also out wrestled hughes who is a dominant wrestler. i can see kos maybe being able to take gsp down, but keeping him down would be the task, very few people have accomplished this task.
I will take you down like a SWEET MUFFIN!!
GSP has a big all around advantage
Between Freddie Roach and the Muay Thai champ(awesome drunk french dude who’s name I can’t remember) I think GSP is going out of his way to improve his already fantastic standup…so that come fight night, he will be able to best Koscheck in wrestling and striking.
If Kos comes to sprawl and brawl, GSP will be prepared to work his takedown-top control-submission game.
If Kos comes to take GSP down and keep him there, GSP will use defensive wrestling and perhaps try to outstrike him.
CPG
Drunk french kickboxer is Skarbowsky.
His highlight reel is pretty amazing.
