No delete button is a great feature

Makes the poster responsible for checking what they say before posting it, and makes you accountable if you do. Boards that allow deletions end up leading to people going and deleting it anytime they say something dumb and get called out on it, so then the responder looks dumb instead.

true.

Zuffa has been stepping up recently… UFC 120 and 122 promos were a lot better than usual also.

Great concept for the ad....the song just didn't do it for me.

Maybe because Im in NYC and I here it fucking everywhere, but the song really took what was a great concept and visualization, and made it seem a bit trite and tired to me.

by Cocytus on Nov 21, 2010 5:25 PM EST reply actions

Nice promo, thinking outside the box for a change! I don’t think a Rhianna song really belongs in there though

by alterbridge on Nov 21, 2010 5:30 PM EST reply actions

It's a Jay-Z song....

…Rhianna just sings the hook. Granted the promo uses mostly just the hook but I digress.

And considering that the name of the song is “Run this town”, it’s perfect for this fight.

Think about Kos calling out GSP in Montreal, telling everyone where his after party was, etc.

I got chicken skin watching this last night.

it was a good ad. if you’re hanging out commenting on BE, the ad probably isn’t meant for you anyway. you already know about UFC 124.

for the average person out there, though, this is catchy.

I cannot wait for Struve to shut McCorkle up.

I actually have McCorkle in this one.

Struve’s defensive wrestling is not good at all and McCorkle is a big dude.

We just don’t know how good his cardio is…

by Magaca on Nov 21, 2010 5:46 PM EST up reply actions

Me2...even though im never real confident in Struve.....just not happy with his defense

But i would really like to see that e-thug Mcsnorkle get f’ed up. the guy got his shot via the internet…now its time to get serious….unfortunately he’s still spamming the forums.

Great ad...

Weak card…

Struve is the second to last fight?

Canadian fans are gonna get their boy and not much else in terms of stars. 125 and 126 gonna be nice tho.

Are you kidding?

Miller-Oliveira does nothing for you? A very sturdy test for an exciting prospect against a contender who is 7-1 in the UFC with his only loss being to Maynard.

Also a Muay Thai clinic from Alves against an opponent willing to stand with him will be good.

by Magaca on Nov 21, 2010 5:49 PM EST up reply actions

There are good matchups on the card sure… any UFC card has exciting matchups.

It just doesnt have anything that will have me emotionally invested in it. Last night I had goosebumps for the entire main event and for about four hours leading up to the Penn fight.

Machida, Rampage, Penn… all guys who’s fights I will not miss! Not a single guy on the 124 card like that FOR ME except Georges… and even that fight has no juice to me.

125 and 126 have about 5 guys on each card that I cant miss.

by MMArazorback on Nov 21, 2010 6:16 PM EST up reply actions

Pretty epic.

I lol at comain event status of Struve-McCorkle though.

by ultima0chaotic on Nov 21, 2010 5:42 PM EST reply actions

Its a great lead in into the main event

Both guys never go to a decision. It’s going to be action packed fight that ends in a finish. UFC 121 with jake shields stinking up the co main event and nearly putting everyone to sleep before the main event was pretty bad.

by chunkyass on Nov 21, 2010 5:47 PM EST up reply actions

Very true.

Since this is the case, there should be a lot of fights that should comain.

by ultima0chaotic on Nov 21, 2010 6:08 PM EST up reply actions

Awesome ad

and I’m excited to see GSP and Oliveira back in action, but the rest of this card is weak

by Antonius on Nov 21, 2010 5:53 PM EST reply actions

I am jumping on the bandwagon, but I feel that Oliveira and Barboza are going to go far in the UFC Lightweight division. If we continue to see improvement from the two and they keep winning their fights, I would one day like to see Barboza vs Oliviera.

It's nice to see them doing something different

Yeah, the song is played out but this is still a step up from the stuff they usually put out. Now if only they would take a little bit of that creativity and apply it to their posters.

One of the best promo's ever done by the UFC

THIS is how you get the casual, mainstream fans on board.

People on this website knew about 124 and planned to watch months ago…this is a much more mainstream appealing promo than the usual formula of

‘announce names, show tons of fast, semi-incoherent highlights through an image filter and cut in soundbites from Rogan and Goldie having commentatorgasms’

I mean, I enjoy the hell out of that formula and it can be done well, but there are only so many possibilities. Something like this promo, that sells the storyline of the fight is much more effective in netting ‘the casuals’

Wow, the UFC made this?

That was good. I kinda rolled my eyes at the song at first but man it really worked.

by ultima0chaotic on Nov 21, 2010 6:48 PM EST up reply actions

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad its on the main card.

I just don’t see how it helps draw for the PPV. I know they’re banking on GSP, but they don’t have to let him do it by himself.

by sBruce24 on Nov 21, 2010 6:51 PM EST up reply actions

No one else on the card can really do much better.

These guys have beef with each other. Makes for an interesting back story.

by ultima0chaotic on Nov 21, 2010 7:17 PM EST up reply actions

I like the ad.

Then again, I really feel there should just be more TV ads with GSP, in general. For everything.

by KatGirl on Nov 21, 2010 7:17 PM EST reply actions

Definitely thought outside the box to attract casual fans. Using a popular song as well was a bold and good move in achieving this.

where is thiago’s face? did the UFC purposely excluded his face because he’s on the card as well?

This isn't realistic.

What isn’t realistic in the ad is skipping over Paulo Thiago, who beat Koscheck.

I disagree

I think it is oddly very fitting.

by CstBoog on Nov 21, 2010 8:09 PM EST up reply actions

Funny as hell

The talent difference in the guys GSP is tearing off in comparison to Koscheck’s. Hazelett, Yoshida, Johnson, Daley, Trigg? Not exactly a murderer’s row.

by esuohlliM on Nov 21, 2010 7:39 PM EST reply actions

Yeah...

because he lost to Alves, Paulo and won’t fight Fitch. Really no one else for him to fight outside of Condit, Hardy and Shields.

by Rob Young on Nov 22, 2010 2:26 AM EST via mobile up reply actions

Definitely a nice change from the normal cookie cutter promos that the UFC uses to promote their shows. This may catch the eye of the more casual (or non) fan who will see all the faces of former opponents and think “Wow. This must be a huge fight.”

GSP’s picture of Kos should of had pieces of duct tape over it since he already soundly defeated him once.
