Strikeforce Challengers 12 - Live Results and Commentary


As with every major show, Bloody Elbow will be here to bring you live results and commentary for Strikeforce Challengers 12. The live blog will start with the beginning of the Showtime broadcast (11 p.m. ET) so make sure to make Bloody Elbow your home for this event.

The event is headlined by a bout between Vitor Ribeiro and Justin Wilcox. Many other recognizable names are on the card from Antwain Britt to Marius Zaromskis to Waachiim Spirit Wolf.

As always we have our one rule: NO SPOILERS! In the interest of not ruining anything from the undercard that may make the broadcast we ask that you do not discuss the results of the undercard in the comments until either the broadcast ends or the fight makes the air.

The Showtime broadcast is live. First fight up shortly.

Caros Fodor vs. Derek Getzel - Round 1 - Both men throwing hands early with neither man really landing. Getzel manages to push Fodor into the cage quickly. Getzel looking to work knees and short punches and Fodor tries to return with some of the same but he can't get his back off the cage. Fodor manages to turn Getzel's back against the cage and he's in side control. Now over to north-south. Getzel manages to turn his hips and he's almost got guard but Fodor locks up a d'arce choke and the fight is over. Very nice. Caros Fodor wins by submission (d'arce choke), round 1.

Jan Finney vs. Liz Carmouche - Round 1 - Carmouche trying to find her range and she lands a nice right hand. Finney throwing leg kicks. A lot of pawing with strikes here early and Carmouche keeps throwing the front kick but isn't really landing it. Right hand by Carmouche. Nice takedown by Carmouche and she's on top in Finney's half guard and now Finney regains full guard. Finney working her legs up high and is trying to trap Carmouche's arm. Finney looks for an armbar and Carmouche slams her way out of the hold. Finney goes back to the armbar and can't get it. Carmouche tries to throw some punches and Finney ends up taking her down now. Finney to side control. Carmouche has Finney's arm trapped with her legs and that prevents Finney from doing much. 10-9 Carmouche.

Round 2 -Carmouche with an awkward jumping kick to start the round but then she manages to get the takedown into side control. Finney tries to reverse and ends up eating a punch from her knees for her trouble and now Carmouche is back on top. Finney keeps looking to lock up limbs but instead she's eating a lot of punches. Carmouche is standing over Finney now landing big kicks to the legs and a few punches. Finney manages to stand up and she's looking for the takedown now but can't get it. Kick, punch combo by Carmouche. Nice right hand by Carmouche. Finney throws a leg kick and the round ends. 10-9 Carmouche.

Round 3 - Carmouche with a head kick that misses and Finney is trying to walk her down. Carmouche spins after missing a punch and ends up eating a punch to the back of her head. Carmouche with a takedown and now she had the mount. Carmouche is unloading and the fight is over. Liz Carmouche wins by TKO (punches), round 3.

Marius Zaromskis vs. Waachiim Spirit Wolf - Round 1 - Zaromskis runs across the cage and immediately accidentally pokes Spirit Wolf in the eye. The doctor is being brought in. The fight has been waived off due to the eye poke. Six seconds is all we got of what would have been a great fight. The fight is a no contest due to an eye poke.

Ovince St. Preux vs. Antwain Britt - Round 1 - Almost right away in this fight there was a poke to the eye of Britt. This is insanity. They restart the fight now, thank god. St. Preux with a head kick that is blocked. Britt with a hard hook that stuns St. Preux. They're circling and St. Preux with a superman punch. Straight left from St. Preux lands. Britt is having trouble getting off here. Left hook from Britt lands hard. Hard body kick by St. Preux hurts Britt badly. St. Preux with another body kick and he stuffs a takedown. He has Britt's back and he's unloading, This should be stopped but the ref isn't stopping it. St. Preux with some big knees to the body and he tries to finish it with a calf slicer but the round ends. 10-8 St. Preux.

Round 2 - Britt charges out and gets the takedown. St. Preux with a reversal and they end up back standing. Britt with another takedown. Britt trying to land but St. Preux is blocking pretty well. Britt landing pretty hard now and St. Preux is simply laying on his back eating shots now. St. Preux gets full guard back briefly but Britt right back to half guard and he's landing some big punches. The round ends and it was 10-9 Britt.

Round 3 - Britt shoots in right away again and is looking for the single leg. St. Preux defending well so far. St. Preux manages a takedown of his own. Pass to mount now. Britt manages to regain guard. St. Preux is working with punches but doesn't have a ton of steam on them. St. Preux is doing just enough to keep the fight on the ground and avoid the stand-up. One minute left and Britt has to do something big here. Britt tries for the kimura and St. Preux uses it to pass to half guard and then the ref stands them up. Another big body kick by St. Preux and Britt is hurt badly. He allows St. Preux to get on top. The round ends and it's 10-9 St. Preux. My card reads 29-26 for St. Preux.

Official Scorecards: 29-28 across the board. Ovince St. Preux wins by unanimous decision.

Vitor Ribeiro vs. Justin Wilcox - Round 1 - Wilcox with a right hand over the top that lands. Right hand by Wilcox as Shaolin circles away. Wilcox is busting up his eye with the jab. Wilcox with a right hand and Shaolin drops to his back. Wilcox with some leg kicks and he makes him stand up. Right hand by Wilcox now. Wilcox is countering the jab from Shaolin with better ones of his own. Ribeiro with a takedown attempt and Wilcox defends. Body kick by Wilcox. Wilcox goes to the body now with a hook after the right straight. Big right hand by Wilcox. The round ends. 10-9 easy for Wilcox.

Round 2 - Ribeiro trying to throw harder punches this round but he doesn't have a very good sense of range. Shaolin looked to drop down but got stuffed. Hook lands for Shaolin. Right hand by Wilcox again. Shaolin looks to shoot and Wilcox easily sprawls. Jab by Wilcox and Shaolin is bleeding from the nose. Wilcox sprawls beautifully to avoid the takedown. Right hand again by Wilcox. Big right by Wilcox and Shoalin stumbles to the cage. Shaolin fails on another takedown. Flying knee to the body by Wilcox and the round ends. 10-9 Wilcox.

Round 3 - Right hand by Wilcox. Shaolin shoots and gets stuffed again. Shaolin shoots again and Wilcox avoids again and now lands a right hand. Right hand lands for Shaolin. Another right hand gets through for Ribeiro. Three punch combo punctuated with a crisp right hand by Wilcox. Two failed takedown attempts by Ribeiro. Head kick missed by Shaolin and he eats a right hand. Jumping knee by Shaolin. Right hand again for Wilcox, and another. 10-9 Wilcox again for the clean sweep.

Official Scorecards: 30-27 across the board. Justin Wilcox wins by unanimous decision.
