gotta love that
this is why many of us consider Pac to be the best p4p boxer — he uses his speed to actually, you know, fight. Mayweather uses his speed to dance. Pretty amazing vid there to illustrate the difference between the two.
My first novel is now available in trade paperback. Take a look: http://tinyurl.com/2ag7njo
I know it will never happen.
But, if there is one boxer out there who I would love to see cross over it’s Manny. I don’t know of anyone in MMA today who has his hand speed. Of course once he gets taken down the game changes but I still would love to see it.

Also
I remember Roach saying that Manny’s had some experience in Muay Thai when he was younger too or something. This was after someone asked if Manny could transition into mma.
Yes, I remember that. And Manny himself has said he would like to fight in MMA but his management is against it. I think there would be huge money involved if he did, it would break MMA open into the mainstream. Start him off with someone like Gomi. How incredible would that be. Ahhh, I’m getting all caught up,,,
Please, he’d be embarrassed if he came to MMA. Stay in boxing where he is the elite of the elite.

Although, being a Mayweather fan, I wouldn’t mind Pacquiao getting taken down, pounded on and choked out like James Toney ;)

Your a Mayweather fan.

Pain don't hurt...
There’s not many people in boxing who can match his hand speed…

But what makes Manny's hand speed so amazing is that
he hits fucking hard while being so fast. Floyd is fast too but it just doesn’t have the same power but he’s not really a power puncher anyway.
Floyd throws hard when he wants imo.
Waiting for clear shots. His technique is so sharp that he doesn’t have to throw punches with “bad intentions” to beat you up. And if Margarito could hit Manny, Floyd definitely can hit Manny.
"In this fight, Anderson showed he was human," Nogueira said. "He showed he could be weak. But he showed he is a fighter and he brings something from his heart. It was beautiful."

If Manny could take Margarito's punches then he could definitely take Floyds
It doesn’t matter if Floyd can hit Manny, it’s not like he’s known for being elusive like Mayweather is. Part of Manny’s game plan is always to make the other person pay for punching him, every time somebody gets a punch on him he’ll come back with a combination.
Wish we got to see Marquez vs. Manny P III sooner than 2011.
JMM is not even close to being the same fighter he was when they first met

Pac wont go back down to where JMM is his best. I’d love to see the fight but I think Manny would take it. I thought JMM should have gotten the nod in at least 1 of the first 2 fights.

He’s fast, and is a hard puncher. But it amazes me that no one seems to try and counter Pacquiao, especially the fighters with the longer reach. Everyone he faces just seems to cover up. I mean yeah he’s fast, but he sometimes tends to be over aggressive and reaches for punches along w/ picking up his head/chin as he’d throwing, he also brings his hands to his waist when he’s throwing combos. Morales in their first fight seemed to take advantage of this tendency. The De La Hoya fight was a disgrace. Oscars jab was the key to that fight and he never threw it, he had a shit load of opportunities to counter Mannys lunging straight left with his trademark left hook and never capitalized.
Counters don't work when the punches come in too fast to counter.

Juan Manuel Marquez
was effective at countering Manny.Thats why their 2 fights were so close.
It wouldn’t be so close if they fought today though, partly due to the weight difference and partly because Manny has evolved under FR and seemingly improves with every fight, whereas marquez is 36 and into the home stretch of his career.

Rec'd..............As a long time boxing fan
it’s good to see an MMA site giving Manny his due respect.
He will beat mayweather easier than most people think, imo.
Too fast…………..even for Floyd. :)
think so?
Every time I watch Manny fight, I get the same impression that Floyd would win due to his technical prowess. Manny is a much different fighter than he was at lighter weights when it comes to his own technique, but he still is very willing to take shots, and get into a fire fight. I don’t see Floyd falling into that trap. I’m not incredibly well versed on the sport or its history, but I am a casual fan, and enjoy boxing more and more as I get older, and am very intrigued in this match-up stylistically.

Obviously,or i wouldn’t have said it. :)
Manny can box or fight.Floyd just boxes.Floyd has shown signs of slipping slightly, imo, and was hurt more than he has ever been in the 2nd rd of his last fight whereas Pacquaio just keeps getting better.
Manny will win.I predict by scores of 115-113,maybe even 116-112.
He’s everything Mayweather struggles with,a pressure fighter with amazing speed but this one can equal him on ability too.
What they dont show you in that video is, in the first fight with Morales (one of the great, gritty fights I’ve ever seen) Morales, comfortably ahead on the cards and being the cocky SOB that he was, switched to southpaw as a kind of tweak of Manny. Manny immediately swarmed him, hitting him flush with everything but the kitchen sink as Morales staggered around the ring, almost going down multiple times. Heres the best part, Morales REFUSED TO SWITCH BACK, despite getting bombed with everything short of napalm. His MExican machismo refused to let him back down once he had switched, and so he came inches away from losing as he barely made it to the final bell. I love MMA, and have watched it from minute one, but the bottom line is, MMA at its best can never match boxing at its best. Its just a shame that boxing in the past 5 years has so rarely been at its best.
Man
Morales, Barerra, JMM, and Pacman blew me away when I saw those fights. Israel Vasquez vs. Rafael Marquez as well.

the scary thing about Pacquiao
is that he retains his speed and gains more power every time he moves up.
really shows how much he has evolved through out the years,
starting out as a plain brawler who only had his left hand to work with.
Mighty Mouse you say?

There’s mighty mouse!
