Today on "MMA Nation" we've recap and discuss the results of last night's UFC 122: Nate Marquardt vs. Yushin Okami event from Germany. We'll talk about what the results mean, whether or not Marquardt is a choker, if the UFC can reasonably sell Okami vs. Anderson Silva (or Vitor Belfort) and more.
We'll also hear directly from Yahoo!'s MMA/boxing writer Kevin Iole. Iole was live at Dallas Cowboys Stadium last night for the historic Manny Pacquiao vs. Antonio Margarito fight. We'll talk to him about where Pacquiao stands as an all-time great, the health of Antonio Margarito and more.
We'll also preview UFC 123, which is less than a week away. We'll look at the two major fights, Rampage Jackson vs. Lyoto Machida and BJ Penn vs. Matt Hughes, what they mean for each fighter and how many buys the event will sell.
Lastly, we'll also give a recap of the other events in MMA this past week including WEC 52, the future of Urijah Faber and much more.
"MMA Nation" will air tonight 9:00pm EST to 11:00pm EST on 106.7 The Fan. To listen live over the Internet, go to The Fan's website and click "Listen Live".

Looking forward to the show Luke. Interesting event we had. Do you get upset about people dissing cards before they even air? I find it crazy people mock them before even seeing the fights. I agree it’s the UFC’s job to put on exciting matches, but doesn’t it all come down to the fighters putting on good fights.
BIg Siver fan here. What are some good potential matchups you see in the LW division for him? Do you think he’ll have a problem with much taller fighters with a significant reach advantage? He seemed to be doing ok with the short time he exchanged with Winner, but he is a very short and stocky LW. Could he make 145?
Thoughts on Saki making MMA Debut in 2011? Is Schilt/Overeem a lock for the K-1 Finals?
I don’t watch boxing, but caught a little of the beginning of Pac/Marg. last night and I got to say it looked very extravagant. Are they in bad of a shape with MMA on the rise as everyone thinks? And also, pre-fight concerts? Really?
And you need Rogan on the show!

But seriously
Without getting into the deep politics about boxing on MMA, is Bob Arum and Top Rank hurting boxing and Pacqiuao by keeping all his fights and Top Rank fighters within the promotion? Top Rank, Gary Shaw, Golden Boy etc are NOT StrikeForce and UFC.
1) With Manny/Margarito apparently not doing well as expected with live attendance, do you think that says anything about the “boxing is dying” narrative, or was it just an unfavorable and unpopular match-up? Will anything other than Manny/Money satisfy boxing fans now?
2) Is there anything to take away from 122 or was it an overall mediocre event? Was anything learned about any fighter?
3) Will Okami finally get his title shot, or will he have it revoked for a boring fight (like Gray Maynard after the Diaz fight)?

I’m curious about the different tenor between Kevin’s coverage of boxing, which is very opinionated, and his extremely positive coverage of the UFC. Does the sport of boxing deserve the stick more? Or is it harder to write critically about the UFC?
by Jonathan Snowden on Nov 14, 2010 6:45 PM EST via mobile reply actions
Kevin wants to be a UFC insider. If he says anything bad about them, he’s afraid to get the boot. UFC provides him with reams of content by letting him break various stories.

Ask Kevin what he thought of the Mike Jones vs. Jesus Soto-Karras decision on the undercard of Margarito vs. Pacquiao. I had it scored 6-4 for Soto-Karras in what I felt was a pretty clear cut decision, yet they gave it to Mike Jones by majority decision.

Lotta boxing questions. Think this will switch to Combat Sports Radio? WKPunchInTheFace?
Seeing that this card was lackluster, you think Dana White knew from the start that he wasn’t going to get many buys for 122 and threw in some mid tiers to see where they’ll go in the UFC? Kinda like a throw away card? I’m sure Siver gained a lotta attention especialy being the ONLY finish that night

I haven't watched boxing since...
I was a kid when Tyson was knocking fools out. Is it really that impressive? 12 rounds seems like an eternity.
by Crazynutts on Nov 14, 2010 8:45 PM EST up reply actions 1 recs
But 12 rounds of pinpoint face punching in the face is not enough
Although they should’ve stopped that fight around the 8th or 9th. Whenever the ref checked his vision.
Regarding Manny
Is there anyone at Welter or Superwelter that even poses a threat to him? And do you think he’s surpassed PBF at this point?

Who should Brock fight next?
With Nelson’s contract issues and fans not liking the rubber match with Mir, who do you think would be a good fight for Brock? I believe due to his past performances and lack of experience that he should start out a little lower on the heavyweight ladder.
Oh yeah speaking of Pacquiao/Margarito
What do you think of Margarito’s corner not throwing in the towel to protect their fighter when it was apparent he was out on his feet?

They probably took 10 years off of Margarito’s life by marching him out there to take more punishment.
"Nobody can be a champion forever." - Muhammad Ali
I agree with that
The fact that Manny was pulling his punches in the 12th says a lot. Like he and Roach knew but the ref and Margarito’s corner refused to do anything about it.

I think Manny knew he was so far ahead on the cards that there was no reason to go out there and risk anything, nor was it worth punishing Margarito any further. It would have been mildly sadistic to go out there and beat on Margarito for another 3 minutes.
"Nobody can be a champion forever." - Muhammad Ali
Ref was doing his job. He could still fight.
Not to defend the fact that it should’ve been stopped but I think a lotta refs wanna let it go cause they want to be sure that they can’t continue. As far as the corner…Pride. It’s all pride. Even Miguel Cotto questioned continuing and I’ll never take any credit away from Cotto if he had quit.

Archie Moore was the epitome of beauty inside the ring.
Given the current state of the sport, Pac is the best thing going – from an entertainment standpoint. I just wish he would stop running Catchweight bouts. Henry Armstrong still overshadows him, imho.

Answer honestly…
If you had to rank Pacquiao amongst the top ten all-time greats… where would you place him?
I couldn’t place him above five just based on his Catchweight bouts, but thats my opinion.
