In fact, it's probably the best. I don't know if you know this, I know I didn't. Maybe I'm lame. Forget that, I'm lame regardless of knowing this or not. Apparently the CSAC has been using monitors at the judges stations for the last three UFC events. That's pretty amazing. The judges and the AC, of course, love it. As fans we should also love it.
Progress from an AC? It seemed like a pipe dream to me only yesterday, then I read a great article on Fighters Only that made my day (link to follow). As if that wasn't enough, they are looking to try Doc Hamiltion's Half Point system in amateur MMA bouts to see how it works.
If you are unfamiliar with the Half Point system, it was proposed that if judges could score rounds 10/9.5 instead of 10/9 it would be a more accurate reflection of a close round. Obviously there are many more examples of why that type of scoring could be effective. Now, I'm not a huge believer in the Half Point system but it's a huge step to see the AC's willing to try new methodes of scoring.
Entire article is here. Great read full of details about the subject.
