It took him a while to establish his dominance, but Demetrius Johnson swarmed, battered and finally choked out Damacio Page at WEC 52. The official time was 2:27 of the third round.

In the first, Page took cage center and chased Johnson into the cage but once they clinched, Johnson's wrestling dominated and he scored the first take down. But he couldn't keep Page down for long as they quickly returned to their feet where Page threw Johnson with a hip toss and got side mount. Johnson fought back to half guard but failed to do much and Page then passed to full mount. Johnson escaped and fought back to his feet, only to be thrown again by Page. Johnson then reversed and slammed Page down with a double leg. Page quickly hopped back up and threw Johnson for the third time in the round. Johnson fought back to full guard but spent the rest of the round on his back.

In the second, Page took a low blow about thirty seconds in that necessitated a long break. Johnson shot in an took him down at the three minute mark. Page landed elbows from his back before he spun and Johnson tried to take his back. Page stood up but Johnson immediately got another double leg. Page nearly rolled free, but Johnson pinned him back down and continued his assault from the top. Near the end of the round, Johnson briefly got mount.

Johnson battered Page to start the third, stuffing a slow and sloppy take down attempt and battering him with punches, elbows and knees that forced Page to the ground. Johnson followed him down and controlled position on the ground. Page got butterfly guard and worked fruitlessly for a sweep. Johnson then locked in a guillotine choke and forced Page to tap.

The bantamweight bout opened the WEC 52 broadcast on Versus.

Page made his return to the cage after a year off due to injuries he sustained in training. He brought a 3-1 WEC record to the fight.

Johnson debuted in the WEC against Brad Pickett in a losing effort while defeating Nick Pace at WEC 51 in September.
