not sure if he gets the chop after this one if he loses, but he’ll be damn close. 3 losses in and a row, especially when this ones meant to be a very winnable fight for him
He’s also been ill which is supposedly fixed and coming off an injury. If Swick loses I doubt he gets cut…Mitchell is a diferrent story.

can someone explain the difference between a submission and a technical submission?
everything dana white says is a complete lie
Submission = tap out
Technical sub = the ref stops the fight while the hold is in place (think a limb snapping or being choked unconscious).
Get rid of the ramp!

Submission is where one guy taps. Technical sub means a sub was locked in and the ref stepped in, like Mir/Sylvia.
When a ball goes into a net, it only means something because we decide it means something. When somebody punches somebody in the face it always means something.

Shit, that wasn’t because it was locked in. That was because Timmy’s arm broke.
“Your arm’s fuckin’ broken” – Herb Dean explaining the stoppage to Sylvia, who was punching his arm and swinging it into the cage.

Obviously.
Technical sub means that the ref stepped in because they had seen enough even though the fighter didn’t tap (ie recipient was choked out or limbs were broken). Mir/Sylvia is a pretty clear example of that.

I’m thinking more Sonnen/Filho, but fair enough.

The UFC really wants Swick to win.

Which is unfortunate because he's not really good.
He went from wild swinging man to Swickotine to boring as hell fights with Saunders and Davis to dropping two straight.
Michael Robinson leads the Seahawks in completion percentage, yards-per-attempt, and QB rating.
I'm not so sure
Mitchell has a great submission game and has defeated some legit talent. Swick stands to gain nothing from winning this fight and would lose a great deal in failure (Mitchell is a complete casual unknown).

Darn
There’s only one interesting fight on this card so far and it’s Guillard/Edwards. I hope most of this is stuck on the prelims or something.
Then again most of the first Troops card was a horrible main card on paper and we witnessed the most violence ever allowed on TV.

Well.
1. It’s because it’s the UFC! We always expect the best cards from them despite if it’s free or not.
2. Is because it for the troops, and although the UFC won’t be making as much money from this card I truly believe they deserve better then normal UFC Fight Night cards.

doesn’t mean it’s ok for it to be shitty.

especially ones that haven't happened yet
some of the most entertaining cards are the ones no one expects to be good.
My threshold for free TV cards is pretty low
I love Guillard, and I’ve always liked Swick, even though he’s fallen off of late. Mitrione seems to have a nose for putting on a good fight. Free MMA is always a win.
Tatum: I think he's a good man. I like him. I got nothing against him, but I'm definitely gonna make orphans of his children.

i like guillard but..........
the jackson camp got him bouncing around like he is boxing or something. he didn’t deserve to win that last fight it should have been a draw. they have helped with his stamina though and i hope he keeps working hard.
I still remember the first one. Saunders kneed Brandon Wolff’s head so much his forehead ballooned. The guy with the afro, Razak Al-Hassan, didn’t tap so his arm broke from an armbar from Steve Cantwell. Corey Hill lost his leg (in a way) in one of the sickest things I have ever seen happen to someone’s leg. Finally, Koscheck more-or-less double KO’d Yoshiyuki Yoshida in that Yoshida was already KO’d standing, and he was punched flush again, and he just fell unconscious. That was a great night of fights.

So....
Swick didn’t need surgery on his larynx or whatever it was he might’ve needed it on?
I hope he comes back 100% or this might cost him his job.

i guess ufc is just babysitting swick to keep him in ufc

I am curious about what the main event will be.

I'm hoping it will be some WEC fighters
maybe Torres? I don’t think he’s scheduled to fight for the last wec events.
I thought I read
that he had a medical problem that wouldn’t let him keep weight on, so that seems highly unlikely.

I thought I read
that he was getting it diagnosed and treated so he could go back up to middleweight.

He hasn't done the treatment yet
he’s having it done tomorrow, and even then it’s still experimental and they don’t know if it will get fixed. I hope it does though, he used to be really exciting at MW.
if swick loses
wouldn’t be surprised to see him get cut. Sure he’s TUF 1 BUT he’s also an AKA fighter in a division with two other AKA fighters :p
I’d be surprised.
