everyone knew what Chael was doing, but to call him a friend and say that he’s cool made me laugh out loud.

i don’t think they’re actually good buddies, i also don’t think all that heat was real, but i’m pretty sure Ed/Anderson are just trying to ultra high road this whole situation. they’ve been doing it ever since the story broke, and it’s a smart move. let Big Nog, one of the bastions of MMA class, do the talking down of Chael, and get a big PR win.

i think ed soares is talking out of his ass. they are not friends and not sure why so many people in mma call other guys who they have no real involvement with their friends. he is trying to come off as gracious but the truth is that chael sonnen really f*cked himself up w this roid charge.

How badly Anderson needs Chael to get paid. Who else really represents a good PPV draw for AS?
Not to mention Shogun, Rashad, Jon Jones...
And a host of others should he venture up again to 205. I think, properly marketed, Anderson vs. Belfort could do ok with a strong co-main. And a GSP fight would set the new record for ppv buy rates in MMA.
Don’t act like Anderson is hurting for a money fight just cause he’s cleaned out MW. Hell, so has GSP and his victory lap of WW will still do gangbusters at the box office.

I hope Ed does all he can to support Chael
He needs to gather his piglet tribe of savages and pray/dance around their idol for Chael to be found innocent.

I thought the other day this might be a big publicity stunt, especially if Sonnen has everything he needs to clear his name and lift or significantly reduce the suspension. He’ll have kept his name in the headlines, gets to take a break after the Silva fight and work on his submission game before the rematch or even face Belfort if he did beat Silva.

when i read this, i initially wanted to tell you to take off the tin foil hat, but then i started thinking it’s not completely impossible that Sonnen could make the judgement that the public is so desensitized to PEDs that a seemingly PR-suicidal move of purposely getting popped knowing he could successfully refute the test might actually cross his mind. in conclusion, while I doubt that this whole thing is some orchestrated stunt to get Anderson/Chael some time off whilst keeping the headlines, i will refrain from calling you crazy.
