i'd love to see peter aerts come out and win the whole thing
and i really wanna see overeem vs schilt
We have a saying back home that if your coming on, COME ON!!!!
I loved watching both of these matchup shows
Overeem vs. Spong is a little strange, but understandable. Saki vs. Ghita is going to be fucking epic. And Nagashima has some baalllls picking Zambidis. I liked the majority of these picks.

the article wasn't too clear on how the brackets were set up. I found this on Wikipedia which helped:

sorry bout that.
I made a graphic to make things clearer. (it was hard to portray using just text and single photos) :)

That's not the semis.
The Reem/ Spong winner will meet the Saki/ Ghita winner; Schilt/ Kyotaro squaring off against Aerts/ Mo winner on the other side.
Reem/ Schilt is possible, and I would argue likely. Sem has a fairly good draw IMO- Kyotaro is a counterstriker and Schilt is pretty hard to counter, makes very few mistakes; the Aerts/ Mo winner shouldn’t be too hard to handle.
Also, the Ghita/ Saki winner would normally be hard for Reem to beat, but I expect them to really beat on eachother. I wouldn’t be surprised if they just chopped at eachother’s legs with kicks until the final bell.

Unless there is a knockout in the first round of Ghita/Saki then I don’t think either fighter is going to make it much further. Brutal, brutal leg kicks ahoy.
Not that I condone facism or any ism for that matter. Isms are in my opinion, not good. A person shouldn't believe in an ism, he should believe in himself.
I quote John Lennon, "I don't believe in Beatles, I just believe in me". Good point there, after all he was the walrus. I could be the walrus. Wouldn't change the fact I have to bum rides off of people.
Honestly
I’ve got Ghita in that one. Although he’s blazing fast I think Ghita’s simply too big for Gokhan.

Things will get interesting if Overeem has to face Saki.
They do lots of training together, right? IIRC, Semmy trains in a different camp most of the time, but Errol, Saki and Overeem train together.
The Golden Glory Camp have no problems with fighting each other
AKA take note.

My cosplay is an extension of my attempts to get those uninterested in fighting to watch K-1. Zambidis’ fight last night made my skin tingle. I will help put on another brawl of that caliber and continue to shine.”
Hopefully he stays true to his word and Zambo has another great fight.

Poor Kyotaro.
By the time he got to pick (#8) the only spot left was next to Schilt.
Kyotaro doesn't really have much of a shot
Hyotaro got lucky that La Banner decided to throw a tantrum and basically gifted him the win. Schilt’s is going to run him over.
by squaresphere on Oct 4, 2010 10:05 AM EDT up reply actions
Kyotaro was going to win that fight in the extension round anyway. JLB had a broken nose and was his gas tank was on empty.
http://www.instrength.com
True
but for what it’s worth, I thought LeBanner won that fight 29-28. I agree though, JLB would’ve lost that last round, possibly could’ve been stopped.
I think the problem is that Schilt is so disarming and makes so few mistakes that it’s going to be hard for Kyotaro to counterstrike like he likes to. And even if he did want to employ an inside game, I don’t think he’d be able to get in on Schilt.

Spoiler alert!
If you look at the blacked out winner’s brackets, it’s pretty clear they used Ubereem as the template. Looks like Uber will be fighting himself in the finals!

Might want to edit Semmy Schilt*
Mayhem said that you are his idol.
Sakuraba: If he means it, he should demonstrate his respect. If he means it, he shouldn't punch me...If he does that during the fight, I'm gonna say "Hey, what you are doing right now is not even close to respecting me!" Then I'lI probably throw him on the judge's table.

argh. And what sucks is, I have a fever, and can’t get on my laptop to edit the photo.

While we're on the topic
I was looking up some pretty awesome K-1 Highlights, but i was wondering if anyone had a specific grand prix or set of fights that was epic in K-1. Thanks for the info.
If you want to watch a Grand Prix, the entire 2008 GP is all kinds of great, plus it features some of these fighters, so you get to know them better. Last year’s was really good too.
As for more classic stuff, well, not to be a shill, but swing next door to HeadKickLegend. Check out the Fight Videos and From the Vault sections for tons of good fights, plus some context in case you want to know more about each fight’s history. I recently put up the entire Peter Aerts v. Mike Bernardo series, which is a great set of fights that I recommend.

I think its gonna be Schilt/Ghita in the finals, and Schilt wins again. Saki has nothing for Daniel Ghita. Way too small. He’ll get pulverized. And while Overeem is a good fighter and impressive heavyweight, when he fights Ghita, he won’t be taking on an undersized and old man.
Ben Edwards is not one of the best heavyweight kickboxers in the world – he’s a chubby middle of the road guy who was gifted a shot at the Final 16 by a terrible draw in his regional tournament. You can say the same about Kemayo, which is why I’m not enthused about Saki’s performance. The other two names? Hari got his win back against Overeem last year in decisive and unquestionable fashion. Remy Bonjasky beat Alistar Overeem. I’m not sure what you establish with that.

This brings us back the same tired argument about K-1 not scoring takedowns. I’m not interested in rehashing that one when the horse was beaten to death two years ago.

Overeem Winning is a win for MMA
I feel that if he wins this thing it will make a check in his bucket list and make him want to be a great champ in MMA.
Heres hoping anyway.

I dunno if Overeem will make it past this round
Not saying he won’t, but Tyrone Spong could take the decision. He’s tough, fast and good on the inside.

Yeah I see him maybe pulling it out on points being very technical. But I’m pulling for Ubereem of course. =]

Tyrone is way better technically but he isn’t a true heavyweight. He only fights there because that’s where the money’s at. Basically you got a 180lb fighter with 20 lbs of loose muscle and fat thrown on against a giant muscular 240-250 lb athlete.

It disappoints me when some vocal people in cyberspace hide behind a pseudonym and make malicious and baseless attacks against athletes that have never failed a screen for banned substances. These keyboard toxicologists think that they can merely look at an athlete and "know" that so-and-so is a "juicer." There is a term for that. It's called "delusions of grandeur," and medication may help. (Dr. Johnny Benjamin)
Wow, some nice draws in both tournaments.
Ghita-Saki is going to be such spectacular violence.
Petrosyan-Kraus rematch is guaranteed awesome.
Nagashima has looked improved in his last few fights, but I think Zambidis lamps him.
Anyone else just really really hate Shilt? I can’t stand that guys fighting style. So sad when Badr lost to him last year.

It might not be the most exciting, but you’ve got to give the guy respect for being good at what he does.

Remy
Is the most borking K-1 fighter, high level IMO. but His defence cannot be beat. Semmy is a little more aggressive with keeping the difference, but still very defencive fighter.
