Tito made more than Cain. You can bet your life he’ll get cut.
"One should always be cold minded and remember that a ridiculous incident may occur any time."
Not really since Cain banked $270,000 with that KO Bonus. But yeah, they need to cut Tito. Put him in the HOF though, he still deserves it IMO.

oh yeah.
didn’t see that.
It wasn’t even really a KO either..
But still. Tito isn’t bringing in any fans or extra buys at this point. Paying your main event and newly minted challenger as much as an aging former champ isn’t good for business.
"One should always be cold minded and remember that a ridiculous incident may occur any time."
Tito's name is bigger than Cain
Tito seems pretty much done for now, but still, his name was more noticeable to people than Cain’s.
The days as champ are done... but the juggernaut known as Brock Lesnar will return.
Considering Brock is going to be out for 6 months
I guess he got paid fairly :) But Tito?
Brock out for 6 months? What did I miss?

I believe all that to be moot
As I doubt we will even see him after 6 months. I think it will be longer if at all.
expect Mir to get a call from Dana
you’d be surprised what a bit of trash talk does to Brock :)

yeah
kinda throws a kink in Dana’s plan that “Brock will want to get back on that horse.”
He’ll use all that time I think and probably not for training.

so what's your point?
If he does not train, it’s bad for his career. Do you want people to judge you before you have even done anything?
by SheepleBuster on Oct 26, 2010 11:10 PM EDT up reply actions
My point is.
Dana and Brock have been fighting.
Dana wants Brock in as soon as possible.
Brock obviously wants to hunt and take time off.
If a doctor has suspended him for 6 months that plays into Brocks favor.
Honestly guys, all this shit is out there on the forums and news sites. It’s not me just making shit up.
"One should always be cold minded and remember that a ridiculous incident may occur any time."
No. There is nothing out there on a forum or news site of any repute that states Brock intends to kick his feet back and stroke his guns for the next six months. Does he have a history of quitting when times get difficult? Yeah. But that’s not even what you are saying. You make a job of shitting all over one of the most compelling and talented heavyweights on the planet.
HeavyweightS?
Dana white was on Inside MMA after UFC 121 talking about fighting with Brock because he didn’t want to fight again this soon.
That leads me to believe that now he’s going to take some time of since
A. it’s hunting season and he likes hunting.
B. The doctor told him to anyway and it will shut Dana up.
Look it up if you need to.
"One should always be cold minded and remember that a ridiculous incident may occur any time."
When you complain about Brock (and boy do you complain about Brock!), it makes me wonder what you enjoy or why you even bother watching this sport.
What does it for you? Shane Carwin, whose gas tank can’t carry him through his 15 minutes of fame? Frank Mir, with his feeble take down attempts, and cocky placidity even in the worst of situations? These are other top 5 or top 10 guys!
You may be watching the wrong sport buddy.
So.. just because I don’t overestimate one guys abilities in light of two incredibly exposing fights I hate the sport? And I’m an idiot if I like any other fighter because they all suck compared to Brock?
So.. just because I don’t overestimate one guys abilities in light of two incredibly exposing fights I hate the sport? And I’m an idiot if I like any other fighter because they all suck compared to Brock?I think you’re trolling me.
"One should always be cold minded and remember that a ridiculous incident may occur any time."
Agree. Brock was a NCAA champ
so he didn’t quit everything. I am sick and tired of people who just want to bash Brock. Brock and Dana were fighting because A. Brock can fight with Dana unlike other fighters B. Brock wanted him to do more interviews C. Brock has just come back from a life threatening illness and may need rest.
The man is not the same after his illness. So please. Stop judging. You don’t know Brock and he does not know you

all you have to do is keep up with the news and you know it’s not shoddy conjecture.
it’s not my fault you know less about the situation than I do.
Why would you report somebody for discussing brocks suspension? are you really that unhappy of a person?

Brock wasn't likely to fight for six months anyways.
He’s not going to be a super awkward fighter.

I wonder if GG might be in danger of getting cut with that salary. Yvel too, but that’s a given.

If Tito were real estate, Dana bought high before the market took a dive.
Tito got the deal he wanted when he was still a top fighter. Not anymore. He left and came back when Dana gave him that deal.
Guys don’t forget sponsor money. I’ve heard Brock makes tons of money of sponsors.
Yeah he left after losing to Machida and never fought while he was gone
And came back still at 0-3-1 over 4 years. I don’t call that close to to the top. And, he is on a % deal as well. So it will be far higher than $250K, as will Lesnar.
i always thought the salary of a fighter had something to do with their drawing power.
i’m kinda confused about ortiz’ paycheck here.
Go big red!
He probably made another couple million from his cut of the PPV.

I’m pretty sure Zuffa’s PPV cut are contingent on a fighter’s placement on the card. Once you get dropped out of the main event slot(s), you lose your PPV bonus.
Not true, do you really think GSP didn’t get a PPV cut for UFC 100?

I don’t remember. Does the figure in parenthesis get added to the first figure or not? Is Cain walking away with $200K or $300K?
by MMAInFeRioRiTy on Oct 26, 2010 8:06 PM EDT reply actions
So how do these payouts work. Cain gets $300k FLAT or does this not include taxes, etc. I know fighters have to pay for training, management, etc. How much you think these guys actually walk away with?

They’re independent contractors. Taxes are not included, unless the UFC chooses to do it as a bonus – the most prominent example of them doing this is for Shogun’s payday after the first Machida fight. In addition to income taxes, they’ve also got to pay self employment taxes (social security and medicare) on the income. Training, travel, management, and other expenses are tax deductible. Also, being self employed, their health insurance is also tax deductible, but only for income taxes, not for self employment taxes.
If any of you saw the final takes for most of these fighters, you would shit
It is sad but it is starting to mirror boxing where only the top 2 or 3 fighters are really making anything close to serious retirement grade $. With Lesnar at the top. For instance, Cain is still on a relatively old contract where he gets no PPV points. His sponsorship $ is minimal. After all is settled he will likely have $50K out of his $200K.
tito gets paid bank because he was the ufc’s start attraction when they were coming up, he’s not just your average fighter coming over from another promotion
Yeah but Titos star has dimmed, unlike Chuck. People still love Chuck even though he gets KTFO all the time. Tito’s Dbagness has hurt him. =/

It seems like we always talk about Fighter pay and how amazingly horrible it is and i agree for the most part but
does anyone else think its crazy that Patrick Cote got 20,000 to lose on a prelim?
Actually looking at that payroll reminds me of how much payrolls have raised over the last 5 years. I would still like to see the bottom guys make more though. So no I don’t think it’s crazy that Cote got 20k to lose on the prelim. I wish all prelim guys were getting 20k to lose but I’m happy to see the payrolls keep going up. I mean at least no one on this card made less than 8k. Used to see 5k and lower quite frequently. I’ll be happy if those days are gone and that minimum 8k goes up even more.
Just BE.
Cain should be banking a mill per fight now dammit! :)
Mike Goldberg: "You know Joe, When Matt and his brother Mark Hughes were growing up, they would pound each other behind the barn."
I would imagine that every champ makes at least that much per fight.

He doesn’t, at least not yet, but I’m sure they have some kind of bonus system worked out for guys who become champions in the middle of their contract.

This guy made $8K in a loss
Wikipedia:
“On August 11, 2009, Guymon attempted to commit suicide after a dispute with his wife about possibly divorcing. Guymon wrote his family a suicide note and had planned to shoot himself with a handgun but before he could do so his wife was able to wrestle the gun away. Guymon then got into his truck and drove away but was stopped a few blocks away by the Orange County Sheriffs Department. Guymon tried numerous times to get the deputies to shoot and kill him but all refused. The deputies were able to calm Guymon down and get him some help.”
Then he fought 2 months later (win) and then again in the UFC 5 months later (loss). Damn. I hope he’s happier now.

Wow
I’m surprised on how much shields makes.
I guess he’s a draw. I always show up incase someone KO’s him. I want to be there when it happens.
I guess the same reason I always watched Tim Sylvia when he was champ
Jon Jones LHW Champion 2011
Gray and Pray LW Champion 2011
I don’t thinks Shields is a draw. More like he hasn’t lost in something like 15 fights, he’s the EliteXC and Strikeforce champ, and they need someone to fight GSP. (I don’t know if the EliteXC champ thing helps or hurts Shields).
Off Topic
but I’m watching UFC 57 and Mike Goldberg claims that Brandon Vera is, and I quote “considered to be a heavyweight George St. Pierre because he comes, comes and comes again”……..
I shot raisin bran out my nose when he said that
Where did Mayhem get the info that Jake was make less money?
That disclosed pay makes him Strikeforce’s second highest paid fighter.
Interesting
That Cain got 100k for showing up and Carwin got 40k (i think?) at Ufc 116. I thought they were both on the same track.
