Strikeforce Challengers: Bowling vs. Voelker II - Live Results and Commentary


As with every major show, Bloody Elbow will be here to bring you live results and commentary for Strikeforce Challengers: Bowling vs. Voelker II. The live blog will start with the beginning of the Showtime broadcast (11 p.m. ET) so make sure to make Bloody Elbow your home for this event.

As always we have our one rule: NO SPOILERS! In the interest of not ruining anything from the undercard that may make the broadcast we ask that you do not discuss the results of the undercard in the comments until either the broadcast ends or the fight makes the air.

Brandon Cash vs. John Devine - Round 1 - Devine with some weak jabs and Cash connects with a right hand and a leg kick. Devine with a takedown now and Cash tries to stand up and Devine is riding his back in a half standing position. After a few punches and then a stall they're restarted. Again they're back in the same position and now Devine gets his hooks in. Devine throws a few punches and locks in a rear naked choke and it's over. John Devine wins by submission (rear naked choke), round 1.

Shana Olsen vs. Julia Budd - Round 1 - Budd was trying to open up and Olsen locks her up so Budd puts hier into the cage. Budd landing hard knees to the thighs. Great elbow as they separate. Hard right hand by Budd and for some reason Mauro praises the head movement of Olsen. Olsen looks for a takedown and Budd shifts her weight to end up on top. Budd trying to lock a guillotine up from the top. Budd walks her away from the cage and Olsen tries to sweep but Budd shifts her weight. The referee takes a point for elbows to the head on the ground. The round ends and the point deduction makes it 9-9.

Round 2 - They're quickly clinched up against the fence. Knees to the body by Budd. Some foot stomps now. Elbow and a left hand by Budd and Olsen clinches up with her again. Again Olsen goes for a bearhug takedown and Budd shifts weight to end up on top. Budd in side control and now mount and Budd is throwing a steady stream of punches that lead to the stoppage. Julia Budd wins by TKO (strikes), round 2.

Billy Evangelista vs. Waachiim Spiritwolf - Round 1 - Spiritwolf with a big punch that puts Evangelista on his back.  Spiritwolf landing some more big punches and Evangelista manages to stand back up and press him into the cage. Spiritwolf with a takedown now. Spiritwolf with a few punches and they're back to standing. Spiritwolf tries for a big takedown but he can't get it so Evangelista with a knee to the body. Evangelista with some knees to the body and an uppercut. Spiritwolf pushing him back to the cage but Evangelista with  few good knees to the body. Nice knee to the body by Spiritwolf now. Huge right hand by Evangelista and now Spiritwolf fires back. A ton of action that round but Spiritwolf takes it 10-9 on the knockdown.

Round 2 - Evangelista on top on the ground but Spiritwolf stands up. Uppercut by Spiritwolf lands hard. Evangelista shoots in but can't get the takedown. Spiritwolf with the takedown but they stand back up. In the clinch Spiritwolf with a series of uppercuts. Now Spiritwolf is fading and Evangelista is pouring on the big strikes. Hard right hand by Evangelista. The round ends and again a ton of action and I'd say Evangelista just evened it up with a 10-9 round.

Round 3 - Jab by Spirtwolf and now Evangelista landing hard shots. Evangelist a is really able to tee off now and Spiritwolf looks completely gassed. Evangelista is really taking over now and landing combinations while Spiritwolf stumbles around and throws one punch at a time in return. Jab by Spiritwolf and a left but he eats a lot of hard punches for his trouble. Spiritwolf shoots and can't get the takedown. Spiritwolf's face is swollen and he is bleeding from the nose. Evangelista is landing bombs and Spirtiwolf keeps throwing back.  Right hand by Spiritwolf and then he gets a slam as the fight ends. 10-9 Evangelista on my card but I have no idea how the judges are going to score this.

Billy Evangelista wins by unanimous decision (scorecards not read).

Lavar Johnson vs. Virgil Zwicker - Round 1 - Hard leg kick by Zwicker. Johnson having trouble getting inside past the leg kicks and wild punches of Zwicker. Johnson is getting hit with a lot of leg kicks here. Finally Johnson with a jab that lands. Now Johnson lands hard but eats a right hand. Johnson landing hard now and landing often. Nice elbow from the clinch by Zwicker. Uppercut by Johnson and Zwicker crumbles against the cage.  That'll do it. Lavar Johnson wins by KO (punch), round 1.

Roger Bowling vs. Bobby Voelker - Round 1 - Bowling throwing hard punches, both men have already landed right hands. Bowling looking for the takedown, he's got it but Voelker is almost able to stand up. Now Bowling with another takedown and Voelker tries to lock in a guillotine.Bowling moves him into the fence but Voelker stands up. Left hand by Bowling and a kick to the body. Nice right hand now.  Head kick lands by Bowling and he shoots for the takedown again. After some punches from Bowling, Voelker finally lands a hard punch. Bowling puts Voelker's back into the cage again and unloads. They finish the round with some clinchwork. 10-9 Bowling.

Round 2 - Through the first 90 seconds of the round Voelker is doing well to avoid the takedown and is having more success standing. Now Voelker landing punches after a failed takedown attempt. They're back to standing and Bowling is hurt. Voelker lands some very hard punches and Bowling is almost out but he manages to shoot and ends up pulling guard. Bowling looking for an armbar but can't get it and eats some punches for his trouble. Bowling tries again for the armbar and now Voelker is landing big punches. The punches aren't stopping and the referee jumps in. Bobby Voelker wins by TKO (punches), round 2. Impressive comeback by Voelker.
