UFC 121 Preview: Patrick Cote Talks Tom Lawlor
"I wanted a big fight right away and that's exactly what we had (with Alan Belcher). But when the fight started, it just hit me in my face -- ring rust does exist."-- Check out the full interview with Patrick Cote at Sportsnet.ca.
"You know I don't make rules, I fight and this is not my decision. But I think this (spiking an opponent) rule is not very clear. I think the forehead ... it's part of the head."
"(Tom Lawlor) is a gamer. He's not a very technical striker but he likes to stay on his feet and stay in the pocket and exchange. I always say I'm not scared of anyone in my weight class on my feet and I think I'll be more powerful, more technical. . . . I'm pretty sure he's going to try to put pressure on me and push me against the fence and try to wrestle me against the fence.
"If not, we're going to stay in the middle of the Octagon and exchange and somebody's going to sleep for sure. I'll win this fight and I'm going to start another streak after that."

Cote is right though
The rule is incredibly unclear.

I got Lawlor for the upset here
Always felt that Cote is overrated
Travis Lutter is not the Michael Jordan of BJJ
Where is the gif of Lawlor imitating Dan Severn?
That was epic.
Por isso eu tomo ópio / é um remédio / sou um convalescente do momento / moro no rés-do-chão do pensamento / e ver passar a vida faz-me tédio
What are the odds of either of these guys getting cut after a loss…?
Lawlor is amazingly entertaining, both in and out of the cage, but 3 straight losses, to less then elite fighters might earn him his walking papers.
Cote, I feel, might have a little more leeway, since one the first of 2 consecutive losses was to Anderson (then again, Thales Leites got the boot after 2 straight losses, let alone 3).
I am praying that Lawlor wins
because I love both fighters, and three straight losses including a title shot is better than three straight losses including one to Joe Doerksen. That being said… Cote by TKO R3
