For the life of me I can't figure out why Shinya Aoki is facing a 0-0 Thai boxer.
Does his resume need padding? Is he bored?

Two ways to look at it
If I were an understanding man, I’d say it’d be a classic case of a submission specialist vs. a striking specialist (or maybe a clash of combat sports…something along the lines of Couture vs. Toney).
On the other hand, if I were a less understanding man, which is exactly what I am in this case, I’d say that victory by murder sounds like a great idea for the folks over at DEEP. That’d also line up with the Japanese penchant for freak shows.
Regardless, I’ll watch.
He’s basically appearing on the show as a favor to Shigeru Saeki, who is his manager (or at least former manager) and the promoter of Deep. He’s probably not getting paid very much, so the matchup makes sense for the occasion. I don’t think it’s a bad thing that he’s keeping active in the gap between Dream shows, even if it’s a meaningless fight.
