He looks ****ing (more) intimidating in the red shorts. He wore red trunks at 116 too. Red is just crazy. I remember GSP coming out for UFC 100 in his red spandex and I just though “oh shit, this is gonna be good”

has a real psychological effect, whether we realize it or not.
Here’s a great fanpost Numbers did a while back:
http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2009/9/12/1027902/winners-wear-red-especially-in-mma
When they analysed the results they found that shirt colour appeared to influence the result, with nearly 55 per cent of bouts being won by the competitor in red. In closely fought bouts it was 62 per cent (Nature, vol 435, p 293). “It should have been roughly 50 per cent red, 50 per cent blue, and this was a statistically significant deviation,” Barton says. “Skill and strength may be the main factors – if you’re rubbish, a red shirt won’t stop you from losing, but when fights were relatively symmetrical, colour tipped the balance.”

I like that Brock's training apparently has a focus on striking.
I see the majority of this fight taking place on the feet where Brock will be at a disadvantage unless his striking improves a whole lot. D1 wrestling nullifies D1 wrestling.
by Polyhedron on Oct 14, 2010 2:47 AM EDT via mobile reply actions
Not necessarily
I mean, non-wrestler GSP took down D1 wrestlers Koscheck and Fitch. Jacare outwrestled silver medalist Matt Lindland. Joe Warren was getting outwrestled by Soto before the comeback. So I highly doubt D1 nullifies D1 all the time.

The giant skull thing on the back is awesome I think and the hooks with the torn off hands is quite appropriate considering who it is on.

The hand-hooks are alright
but that skull is atrocious. These things happen in MMA…
The only good tattoos on MMA fighters I can think of are the Muay Thai on Shogun’s shin and Dan Miller’s badge-like thing. GSP and Fitch have an awesome mirror thing going on with their kanji. I know there are other good ones, that’s just what comes to mind right now.

Alright, I'm going to ask this right here and now.
Was I the only one who made my GI Joe’s have my fantasy wrestling matches from WCW/WWF? They were so bendy, I had one that was Rey Mysterio and I used to make him hurricanarana all of those mother fucks.
And then God created Saturn... and he liked it, so he put a ring on it.

OH MY GOD
My grandpa built me a wrestling ring and I totally played wrestling with my GI Joes! Of course my guys were shawn michaels and bret hart and hogan cause I’m older. This was when mysterio was still in diapers and a mask.

Well, I didn't miss out on Michaels, Hart and Hogan.
I’m talking about first run Mysterio Jr in WCW, which, of course is still later than that, but ya know. I had Mysterio vs Malenko go down like a million times. And yeah, Shawn Michaels was one I DEFINITELY did because GI Joes could to the sweetest super kicks ever.
And then God created Saturn... and he liked it, so he put a ring on it.
Twitter me and what not.
My bret hart GI Joe would snap the rubber bands of the others during the sharpshooter which was actually a boston crab since their legs don’t quite work like that.

I know it's nothing, but....
…if he wins, I will say that he fought through a horrendous thumb injury and still won. If he loses, I will blame the same thumb injury. Either way, BROCKLESNAR!!!! is a true warrior for training and fighting with what is obviously a life threatening injury. We should all thank him for letting us live so that we may continue to have the privilege to watch him fight.

It's hard to tell
But I would certainly say that his technique is still tight.

Question is...
How will he react to being hit if its anything like his last fight this will be fun to watch.
It seemed like he was trying to get out of the cage after Carwin tagged him one time.
I’m just wondering when the last time cain had a 280 pound guy lay on him punching him in face for 5 mins. Will he still be able to punch in the second round after that?

hahah chances?
Cain can swing until the end of round 5
Carwin punches > cains punches
Cain’s striking versatility > Carwin’s
I just watched Cain-Nog again last night and I had forgotten how much Cain worked Nog over with kicks prior to landing the big bomb. He was mixing kicks in with his combinations beautifully. He was nailing Nog with low kicks and body kicks and even mixed in a few head kicks to keep him honest. I can definitely see a scenario where he damages Lesnar with low/body kicks early and then tees off on a stationary Lesnar in the championship rounds.
Kicks will be Cains worst weapon in this fight
because as soon as Cain throws one low kick, Brocks got a takedown. If you watch the 2nd Mir Fight or the Heath HErring fight, Brocks speed with his strikes is not that bad. I bet that he surprises a lot of people with his striking and technique this fight. Im sure its not going to be superb but it will definitely look a lot better than people think. People always like to talk about the Carwin Fight and how shitty he looked in the first round, does everyone forget this guy had a whole in his stomach and on his death bed? Out for almost a year and losing about 40lbs? We’ve seen Ring Rust take its effects on some of the most dominate fighters in history (Shogun lookin horrible, Rampage looking slow and not experienced at all, Tito Ortiz etc etc…) and still Brock came out with a win. Thats what impressed me. He’s been training non-stop since that fight, and i really feel like everyone is going to see how good brock really is in this fight. Im expecting Cain to tag him a couple times, but his Jaw is 3ft wide made of granite, and everytime Cain throws a strike he will have to worry about a takedown as well. Alla GSP opponents. I love Cain, if this fight was against anyone else i would have Cain, But everyone is a great wrestler until you have a 280lb gorilla throwing you around thats moving as quick and explosive as a 170lb fighter. Good luck to both fighters but i just think that this fight will go to the ground and Cain will be overwhelmed. Like Mike Tyson always said, “Everyone has a gameplan until they get hit”, with brock its “Everyone has a gameplan until they get taken down and have 280lbs of rock ontop of you, punching you in the face”…

yeah, he changed up his diet,
and is looking pretty trim and cut compared to before. I’m guessing that would be better for his cardio and movement.
by Anton Tabuena on Oct 14, 2010 6:18 AM EDT up reply actions
He’s still 265 pounds and now in better shape then he ever has been since coming to the UFC. He might not be the 285+ pound wall he was before but i think he will improve greatly in his pace and movement. Cain and camp hoping Brock gets tired could lead to a busted up Velasquez. Brock’s predicting TKO in the second so his camp defiantly has something up its sleeve

size
i like how he is looking a little smaller, a little more human.
i dont want him to be the best just cos he is the biggest – i want him (or who ever) to be the best, because they are the best fighter, with all the tools… not just becasue they can move quickly for 300lbs!

Correct me if I am wrong - I may learn something.....
Brock Lesnar is never going to be the best because he has all the tools. He always has that advantage that he’s a heavyweight gorilla that moves like middleweight. I don’t see anything wrong with that. Why would that make you think less of him?

Um lets see, Brock is stronger, Brock was a national wrestling champ not an all American, Brock is just physically bigger in every way compared to Cain and I for one am not buying into the hype that Cain is just so good of an athlete that hes gonna break Brock. I have a feeling that after round 1, everyone watching is gonna be thinking “Oh shi*, why did anyone think Cain had a chance?”
by Bobby Rodriguez on Oct 14, 2010 1:02 PM EDT up reply actions
I have to agree with this Bobby.
Cain is not going to be able to manhandle Brock like he did Rothwell and Kongo.
Brock is a more cautious striker then Nog, and is not likely to exchange in the pocket like Nog, so I don’t see Cain landing a big bomb.
Brock’s got stellar top control and GnP. If he manages to take Cain down, he is going to do some damage. He may not stop Cain, but he will do enough damage to slow him down.
Cain couldn’t even stop Kongo with his GnP (and the Rothwell stoppage was BS), so even if he manages to get Brock down, I don’t see him stopping the fight with his GnP.
The only way I see Cain winning is by channeling Frankie Edger and peppering Brock to a decision.
The only way I see Cain winning is by channeling Frankie Edger and peppering Brock to a decision.
I’ve been wondering if this was a strategy Cain could use and I keep coming to the same conclusion. NO. Frankie got away with using that strategy because BJ let him. Brock isn’t going to let Cain jab and jive or whatever you want to call it. Brock will be looking to get his hands on Cain and take him down. Especially if he isn’t hurting Cain standing. So I can’t see Brock allowing that strategy to play out for very long. No way he waits till the fifth round to go for a takedown like BJ did with Frankie.
Just BE.
I agree.
Cain will need to be able to stop Brocks takedown attempts the majority of the time in order for the Edger point fighting to work. I don’t think he is going to be able to do that. I see Brock winning in the second or third round via GnP TKO.
Brock
Was a National Wrestling champ as well as a 4-time all american lol. Kudos to Cain, College Wrestling is no Joke, but Brock was not only a champ but an all american as well. I also think that Brock is just going to overwhelm Cain. We’ve seen excellent strikers be negated by excellent wrestlers….same formula here i believe…
