It was nifty, but not as good as this one or the one for 114. The one for 114 and this one make me feel that I absolutley, positively MUST see the event. The one for 120 just makes me go, “Oh, that looks like a fun card. Might have to catch that one.”

Which is kind of the point.

Because you REALLY want to see this one right. So you’ll buy it.

Whereas 120 is free so you can see it after little enticement. Plus go ahead and tell me 120’s trailer isn’t WAY better than any other UFC trailer (non-Rampage as you seem to have it in your head that Rampage trailers=star-making trailers that cannot be missed).

No, I’m just saying that the trailers featuring Rampage have been a lot better than the others that have come out recently. What’s the most compelling trailers recently outside of the ones featuring Rampage? The 114 trailer was a straight dagger and contributed directly to the huge amount of PPV buys that card did.

This one looks exactly the same as almost all the other promos

it even sounds the same too. The 120 one is the only one I could think of right now that was actually pretty good and that was because the UFC decided to actually put some effort in the production for that.

Did BJ break a rib, or did he just gas out? Will we ever REALLY know for sure? Either way, he slowed down big time in the third round and got stopped. Against Edgar, he just stood around for 10 rounds and essentially did nothing but flick out a jab. That’s not going to cut it against Matt Hughes in a three round fight. I would favor BJ to win because I think he’s the better offensive fighter and still has a bit more in his tank at this point, but it’s still a SUPER competitive matchup. I wouldn’t bet any large amount of money on Penn in this one.

Frankie neutralized BJ by using his speed. Matt Hughes won’t be able to do that.

Matt Hughes probably wouldn’t even think about boxing with BJ. Also, BJ’s gaurd doesn’t seem to be what it used to be. His takedown defense/balance seems to be losing its luster, and we know who’s going to be training harder coming into the fight.

When I had seen Simpson on the main card, I was a little disappointed. Maybe its my inability to warm up to ASU wrestlers, but I just don’t think he’s done anything in his career to deserve it yet.

Rampage may very well outstrike Machida

I think Machida will keep it on the feet, and I think Rampage has a great shot at out striking him. I don’t think Machida has slipped per say but I do think he is fighting different after taking a beating from Shogun. Rampage will find some holes, land the big shots and capitalize.

If, and that’s a big if, Rampage’s head is right going into the fight.

If Machida fights the way he usually did pre-Shogun II

He should have this. He can’t be impatient and he can’t be pressured to fight a different method because other people are telling him to do otherwise. Play his game, make Rampage fight his fight.

Hopefully he’s realized an aggressive Machida isn’t the best Machida, just because his striking style is meant for countering and not for aggression. Last time he tried it, I saw Machida getting Machida’d by Shogun’s fist. BOOM! Head shot.

He had to switch it up for Shogun because Shogun already had 25 minutes of getting his timing down. Outside of a wild punch, there is no way in hell Rampage wins this. Machida is an awful, awful fight for him.

Rampage has no chance here,

Aside from the outside possibilty of Machida tripping over his own feet and falling into one of Rampages plodding strikes.

I know he has a huge fan base & is a good draw, but unless he is protected from the best LHWs (Machida, Shogun, Jones, Anderson and the like), his days of winning are behind him.

He can still be competitive in the 2nd tier (Rashad, Franklin, Griffin, Bader, T. Silva and the like).

Not a popular view I know, but reality will intrude at some point for everyone else.

Are you serious ???? Rampage has no chance ??? Rampage has ....

…. just as good of a shot at winning this fight as Machida . Neithers style is good for the other fighter ( Rampages boxing offense & defense …. Machidas elusive style ) and this is going to come down to one thing , can Machida elude Rampage for three rounds ? My guess is no . I think Rampage will catch him and KO him . That being said I could also see Machida winning via decision . His style gives everyone issues . But to say any fighter has no chance in this sport is ridiculous . I guess Frankie Edgar should have just stayed at home for those BJ Penn fights too ?

Rampage has no chance IMO.

This is either a squash match with Machida doing said squashing or it’ll be boring do to Machida refusing to engage due to some post-KO timidity.

It will be interesting to see how Machida deals with coming off of his first loss though.

I think you’re right, and I think it’s actually good for him to have finally gotten a loss. A little pressure off of him, and the perfect opponent. My only concern is that Rampage’s head is a lump of iron ore. I think Machida can drop him, but he’ll probably have to choke him out to finish him.

This fight is set up for Rampage to lose Machida’s stlye is 100& perfect to beat Rampage’s. Wonder if it is because they see Rampage might be on his way out? But with that said I hope Page KTFO Machida.

that started me on the path to hating Rampage…and his recent game of hating the UFC whenever he isn’t being coddled by Dana doesn’t help much.

Machida’s footwork will neutralize most of Rampages ability. Rampages only real chance here is land a big one punch right as machida is coming in.

The UFC has altered the bout order slightly on their event page,

and although the Spike prelims haven’t been announced yet, the first five fights are now:

Rampage vs. Machida
Penn vs. Hughes
Harris vs. Falcao
Davis vs. Boetsch
Lauzon vs. Sotiropoulos

Followed by:
Simpson-Munoz
MacDonald-Brown

So it’s now looking like Harris will (deservedly) get a main card spot, while the Spike prelims will have Simpson-Munoz and MacDonald-Brown, but again, this NOT confirmed.

I knew letting myself become fans of so many people was going to hurt me down the line when they have to fight each other.

I usually try to root for the guy I like/am more familiar with, or agains thte guy I dislike.

119 had fights like Serra-Lytle and Bader-Nog where I didn’t really want to root for either. Similar thing with Lesnar-Carwin, Lesnar-Velasquez, and the winner of that-Dos Santos.

Now Rampage and Machida have to fight. I say that Machida getting knocked out will only make him go back to and adhere to his elusive-counter style that he had before the 2nd Shogun fight…he might mix in more clinch-takedowns in order to try and throw his opponents off more.
