Final 16 Tournament Bouts - 3R x 3 min. + 2R Ext.
Alistair Overeem def. Ben Edwards via TKO (punches) R1, 2:06
Overeem scored his first knockdown about one minute into the match and was never in trouble here. Ninety seconds in, a crushing overhand right sent Edwards to the canvas again. Edwards was somehow able to make it to his feet and beat the eight count, only to be sent down for the final time by a one-two pair of vicious Overeem hooks. Utter domination for the Strikeforce champion.
Keijiro Maeda def. Jerome Le Banner via DQ (Le Banner left ring) R3, 3:00
After three rounds, the judges declared the bout a draw, sending the match into overtime. Le Banner and his corner vehemently disagreed with the decision. "JLB" walked out of the ring almost immediately after the scores had been read and walked back to his dressing room, leaving a shocked "Kyotaro" with a technical victory.
