Quote of the Day: Michael Bisping - "I've Got Nothing but Respect for Wanderlei Silva"
"I saw a couple blogs about Wanderlei Silva, he was laughing. Saying he's not scared of me and this and that. I don't think Wanderlei is scared of me at all. Why would he be? I've got greatness of respect for Wanderlei Silva. Early on in my career, I used to watch a lot of Wanderlei Silva back in PRIDE, he's always been one of my favorite fighters. I got nothing but respect for the guy."
"So to be fighting a legend like Wanderlei Silva for me is a great honor. He says he's not scared of me; of course he's not scared of me. He's fought some of the biggest names in the world. But make no mistake; I'm not scared of him either. It's just another fight and I think it's a very winnable fight for me. I'm going to go out there and give it my best and I'm planning on winning in Australia."
-- Michael Bisping +145 talks Wanderlei Silva -175 in his UFC 110 vlog.

Man i hope wandy , puts him away early. Same way hendeson did, would be awesome.

Can't even give him props for saying something respectful/nice
If he ever did something noble like save a man from a burning building or headkicked Bob Arum, we’d still see the same predictable responses:
Guy 1: Uhhuhuh…(Insert reference to UFC 100 KO loss from Hendo)…
Guy 2: (Embed pic of UFC 100 KO loss from Hendo)
Guy 3: Agreed.

You forgot two or three...
Me and several others: Whatever, he’s still overrated and lost to Hammill
Brent: I have watched that fight 5 times and still say that I saw him beat Hamill
Guy 3: his only losses are to former champs!
Me: yeah but his only wins aren’t terribly impressive
Guy 4: Guys, he saved a man’s life from a burning building!
Me: overrated.

When did Bisping trash talk Hendo? What did he say?
by An0nymous on Jan 9, 2010 11:36 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
He trash talked hendo alot, always putting out videos insulting him in one way or another, can’t think of the specifics right off the bat, there were alot of them posted on this site

Trash talk about how he’s too old for mma and that he’s gonna retire hendo
by kanodogg on Jan 9, 2010 12:22 PM EST via mobile up reply actions 0 recs
Never happened. You’re literally making that up. The “worst” thing he ever said was something like “it’s my time to shine” or something, and that he was going to win.
Never really insulted Dan or his skills at all.
by An0nymous on Jan 9, 2010 12:30 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
i would think hendo heard some trash talking about him, or why else why would he say" that last shot was to just shut him up" . Maybe he was referring to how he was sick and tired of hearing his wining voice everyday at the ultimate fighter?

“I think Dan Henderson is an [expletive], and I’m going to knock him out.. He’s a two-faced [expletive]. He never said anything to my face… He disgusts me. I’m 18-1, and he said he doesn’t need to train anything but cardio, and he would still beat me. He’s taking me way too lightly. When people piss me off, I fight a lot better.
He’s got God-awful stand-up. But he’s got a very powerful right hand that everyone talks about that hasn’t KO’d anyone for a long time, and you can see it coming because he’s so slow with it.”
He also said something about Dan being too old and he should retire. But in fairness Dan talked some trash as well.

Thanks, I like how he was talking about his right hand that hasn’t KO’d anyone in forever. It’s funny cuz it was pretty much true at the time but not anymore.

Well, if you read the reply thread above instead of trying to own me
I don’t think he likes Bisping very much. Geez, I didn’t think I said was that offensive nor was I insulting piggy. Then again it’s you. It’s your mission on BE to go out of your way to belittle people when you disagree with them.

Bisping actually does have very good ground n pound, but I don’t think we’ll see a situation like Bisping beating Kang by ground n pound, especially knowing that Kang has mental lapses in his fights and finds ways of losing fights even though he is winning on the scorecards. Wanderlei is always “in the fight” even if he’s losing, and he’s shown it in many of his fights. I think that Wanderlei got this by KO or TKO, but I do worry about this weight cut and how it might affect Wanderlei.

I think
the way Bisbing will take it is pepper Wandy with punches and keep his distance and force Wandy to stalk him, and then squeak a boring decision. If the Axe murderer shows up to the fight tho, Bisbing is doomed, and will be KTFO. I am want the later to happen.

The only way bisping wins if wandy gasses as a result of cutting so much weight, he looked horribly gassed in Franklin fight by r3
by kanodogg on Jan 9, 2010 12:25 PM EST via mobile reply actions 0 recs
I think that may have had something to do with Franklin completely picking him apart the whole fight. Agreed though, how Wandy takes the cut is the determining factor in this fight.

I would have been impressed if thr ufc wouldnt have cut him after that fight, apperrantly he doesnt cut it in the ufc. So that does nothing for Bisping IMO

Back to the fight though ...
I think this is Wanderlei’s fight to lose. Even though Silva is a BJJ I very much doubt this is going to the ground unless Bisping tries to shoot, which he may out of desperation.
If he does, I cannot see him keeping Wand there, and I expect Wand to finish him on the feet via TKO in the 2nd. Some old, classic brutal knees in the clinch that we haven’t seen for some time would be nice.

Actually, there are two times I've actually thought Bisping was tolerable
That one time before UFC 105 where he poked at himself for circling the wrong way.
And the “I’ll most likely kill you in the morning” quote on TUF, which I thought was hilarious for some reason.

Pretty much since the Hendo fight. He’s been pretty palatable since then. Humbled him a bit. I could even grow to like him somewhat if he can definitively prove that all the marketing put behind him wasn’t for naught.

Bisping should try to get the fight on the ground any way he can in the first round, even if it’s just by pulling guard and turn it into a fast paced grappling match. After that he can risk striking with Silva. Bisping’s cardio is very good and his grappling is above average. Silva’s cardio appears, at this point, to be average and it hasn’t looked good since he came to the UFC. The weight cut will only likely exacerbate things for him. I used to think Bisping had a decent chin but Kang’s knocking him down in the first round makes me question whether it’s that good but he’s pretty good at running around and jabbbing people so I think he’ll be able to survive against a fading Silva. All told, I think there might be a little value for a small play on Bisping.
by The Darkness on Jan 9, 2010 4:26 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Silva was tired against Franklin, but they were both exhausted. Also, Silva has had breathing problems since Cro Cop broke his nose at OWGP ’06, he has recently had this repaired and I think you will see a much fresher Wand, as his cardio routines are insane!
As for Bisping having a decent chin, it was never truly tested until he fought Henderson, and it will most certainly always be wobbly after that shot. I don’t see Bisping finishing Wand, the best he could hope for is he stays out of range and squeezes a decision.
