I'm sensing an Anderson Silva heel turn

Seriously though, this seems like a non-story

OR!

Anderson gets enraged and challenges Machida for his light heavyweight title!

Not that I condone facism or any ism for that matter. Isms are in my opinion, not good. A person shouldn't believe in an ism, he should believe in himself.

I quote John Lennon, "I don't believe in Beatles, I just believe in me". Good point there, after all he was the walrus. I could be the walrus. Wouldn't change the fact I have to bum rides off of people.

and we get rewarded with the most absolute boring fight ever

by milk72 on Jan 9, 2010 2:25 AM EST up reply actions

yea sorry while these guys are two of the most talented fighters in mma they are a terrible matchup neither likes to engage and rely on counter punches and opponents mistakes

by milk72 on Jan 9, 2010 2:33 AM EST up reply actions

Yeah like Machida/Evans. This won’t happen, the fight will just have a slow start…and never happen anyway. WHAT am I talking about?

The way I see it, milk72 hit it perfectly. It would be nice to have a winner between the two, but it would probably be boring. We know Silva is willing to let a fight be extremely boring (Cote, Leites). Machida has been more aggressive against Evans and Thiago Silva, but he still has a record for counter-striking.

So for that we should not get excited for a possible fight between the best 205 lber and the best 185 lber in the world?

well id be real pumped for that shogun vs anderson silva would be awesome, shoguns gotta get thru his 1st title defence first and then i think the rampage rashad winner deserves a shot before anderson gets a shot

silva’s limbo he has in between weight classes is real weird right now so let anderson defend his title against belfort and my god i hope gsp then he can go up permanently and challenge the 205 title

by milk72 on Jan 9, 2010 7:18 PM EST up reply actions

if Shogun loses a close fight to Machida in the rematch a fight with him and Anderson would be amazing. It would really test Anderson’s metal.

by Ilias on Jan 9, 2010 8:27 PM EST up reply actions

hmm

that is weird, i wonder what will become of this,? i tough machida and silva were good friends?

by #1 piggy on Jan 9, 2010 2:00 AM EST reply actions

Silva's words were "like brothers"

and that is why he would never fight him. I find it funny that his “brother” is training his next opponent.

I wonder if it will change anything between them or if Anderson really doesnt care.

by bigdmmafan on Jan 9, 2010 2:03 AM EST up reply actions

I fucking hope so

then we can see Anderson destroy this paper champion

by SteelerStuckintheSouth on Jan 9, 2010 4:03 PM EST up reply actions

I doubt it means anything, really. It has been reported that Vitor has trained with Machida before (I think in preparation for Evans) and are friends. Also, one has to question how much training is going on because it could be training together for only 3 days. I just don’t see it as a big deal.

by chrisbboy82 on Jan 9, 2010 2:06 AM EST up reply actions

he has trained with Andy too

but Anderson felt really disrespected about Belfort having trained with him and then challenging him for the belt. This is very touchy situation I think for Belfort, I’m sure Anderson knows about this though. I say he helps train Shogun for his rematch against Machida!

Shogun wins, Anderson/Machida to be a non-title fight so that way if it’s a stinker it’ll only be 15 min long

Fake Update from Silva’s Camp: Anderson’s ‘nagging’ elbow injury keeps flaring up, this fight will have to be cancelled. Hahaha..

Look, I love Vitor and Anderson both, but I really didn’t appreciate the attitude that Anderson had about how he refuses to fight anyone that’s ever trained with the Nogs, Machidas or himself, at any point in their careers. And if they challenge him for his title, it’s some giant slap in the face. Sorry Anderson, but people have career ambitions, which may (and probably will) clash with your own.

I’m sure he’ll be disappointed to hear you don’t appreciate his perception of loyalty.

by Simco on Jan 9, 2010 4:00 AM EST up reply actions

Not really, I haven’t had the pleasure of training at Black House yet.

I think some of you guys are misinterpreting the quote...

Belfort’s been training Shotokan with one of Machida’s father’s black belts and he has trained with the Machida clan in the past.

I believe it was after the Franklin fight that Belfort was promoted to a Blue Belt in Shotokan Karate by his Karate trainer.

Unfortunately I can’t find the article talking about his promotion to Blue Belt, but here’s a Sherdog article where Belfort is talking about incorporating Karate into his skill set.

That makes sense. I’ve unfronted the fanshot. Thanks.

by Nick Thomas on Jan 9, 2010 11:06 AM EST up reply actions

Yeah, there’s no drama. He probably trains in Lyoto’s father karate school.

by dancingChicken on Jan 9, 2010 11:07 AM EST up reply actions

The father’s own perception is… different. From the fanpost about Portal do Vale Tudo’s 2nd webzine:

Deep down, [Belfort] hasn’t used it that much. He doesn’t use distance very much. Mostly in the start of the fight, before switching to more traditional kickboxing.

by Chortles on Jan 9, 2010 1:49 PM EST up reply actions

Lyoto Machida vs. Anderson Silva

Lyoto Machida’s father is a huge Anderson Silva fan and he feels that Machida vs. Silva is a great idea.

He also thinks Silva can beat Fedor.

Furthermore, according to Lyoto’s father, Anderson intuitively ‘got’ everything that Lyoto had to work hard to learn, and has previously described Anderson positively as a “showman” fighter.
