Mirko Cro Cop training hard for UFC 110, eyes UFC belt:

"Juki (conditioning coach) killed me. He has never pushed me so hard. I thought the years have caught up with me but he says the training program has never been so intense. I could fall asleep right now told us CC on New years eve in his coffee bar Virage."

"Josip Matkovic (a wrestler) is 193 cm (6'33 ft) and 145 kg (320 lb). He's so strong I can't put my arms around him. His regular sparring partner Sasa Mucnjak is only 200 cm (6'56 ft) and 122 kg (269 lb)."

In a couple of days Mirko is going to Amsterdam for a three week training cycle with Ivan Hyppolite. The rare days Mirko is not training he spends time in his home town in Privlaka.

"Spending time there is the best cure for any stress" says Mirko.

Even though retirement looked to be near after the loss to Dos Santos, Cro Cop plans to fight at least 3 times in 2010. If he wins against Rothwell we could see him against Velasquez or Nogueira in May or June.

"I want to start the year 2011 with the UFC belt around my waist."

Good Luck Mirko

. . . that is some serious wishful thinking.

i seem to recall

him saying the exact same thing before the Dos Santos fight, that he was reinventing himself and ready to make a run.

Same old thing we hear before every fight. He had me convinced before the Kongo fight that he was reinvigorated but the fact is that once he gets into the cage he’s just not mentally prepared to get hit anymore.

I still think he beats Rothwell, but I think Cro Cop enjoys beating people up more than he enjoys fighting and thus he will never be able to see it through against a top level guy who isn’t afraid of him.

Yep, he’s said it before.. but I really want to believe this.

So.. WAR CROCOP!

i feel like a kid listening to “the night before christmas” every time he says he’s gonna be different in his next fight… in the back of my mind, i know it can’t be true, but i want to believe it so badly, that it gets me excited

CroCop’s got this fight on the bag, I hope he makes a great comeback and makes a big impact in the division. Kick of Death FTW!

I want to believe

I’m a fan for life and will NEVER give up on Mirko. After that D-Bag Iole ran his name through the dirt I just couldn’t believe it. I would seriously freak out if CroCop could make a run at the title.

He knows he'll never hold the belt

He’s in his twilight years and he’s trying to make as much money as possible before he retires.

I think ol’ Mirko’s got at least one good run left in him. If his mind is right when it comes time to step in the octagon, I think we may see at least a glimpse of the Mirko of yesteryear. And if he can beat Big Ben and get the boost of confidence and some momentum for his next fight, he may be able to finish his career in style.

But the belt? Sorry Cro Cop, as much as I’d love to see it, not gonna happen.
