Around SBN: Tiger Woods Makes His 2012 PGA Tour Debut

Quote of the Day: Tito Ortiz - "Rashad Evans, Rampage Jackson and Chuck Liddell Are Making the Millions Now Because of Me"

"People like (Rashad) Evans and 'Rampage' Jackson and Chuck Liddell – these guys are making the millions now because of me holding out. If I didn't hold out, they'd get taken advantage of."

... "'Rampage' is a guy who I've helped out a lot. When he came from PRIDE, he got the same contract I did – exactly the same contract as I did. I gave it it to him, and I told him, 'This is what I'm getting, bro. This is what you should be getting.' He did, and he got it. It's just one of those things that I've always tried to help out guys like Matt Hughes, the dirtbag, and guys like that who just hate on me – probably because either they wanted to be like me or they can't achieve as much as I have."

... "I wanted to be successful, and sometimes people get things given to them. Sometimes people work hard to make them happen. Chuck has always had things given to him, and I work hard to make it happen. If it wasn't for my hard work and dedication, I would have been forgotten about."

-- Tito Ortiz says he's raised the bar for all fighters and they should be thankful.

This has got to be my all time favorite Bloody Elbow comment.

I seriously got light headed, dizzy, in a lil pain from laughing at this, especially after the first two comments paved the way. Bravo

I'm the best ever. You're the most average in a minute.

This guy should just learn to shut his mouth.

He didn’t hold out shit. He came crawling back to the UFC when he realized no one was going to pay him 2 mil per fight. Then his first PPV back he shows hes washed up and his star power is dimming with only.. what was it 350k buys? Pitiful.

Shut up Tito you make yourself look like a clown.

That’s why I want him to keep talking. Hey Tito, here’s a rope! Go to town!

your reaction proves tito still has what it takes to get as many people watching his fights on ppv

by pandaboy99 on Jan 30, 2010 5:27 PM EST up reply actions

you are right. I can’t stand the guy but he is already getting fans excited about his chuck fight. The only thing he has mastered is selling a fight. Other then that he is as washed up as his skank whore.

Shut up, Tito.

PROOF

Fail

Does it really matter who wins this geriatric fight?

by MMA42 on Jan 30, 2010 4:24 PM EST reply actions

Interesting.

You’re aware that Tito is less than 6 months older than Anderson Silva? He’s almost three years younger than Nate Quarry. Age jokes don’t work with him yet. If you want to fail at comedy but be more relevant, say Tito should be nicknamed “driftwood” because he’s all washed up.

Amazing that he can ruin all the good will he created for himself after tuf3 where he was the face playing the part of the caring coach.

I do enjoy the fact that he refers to Matt Hughes as “the dirtbag”.

Agreed

Only part of the entire quote that actually makes sense.

by ufc4 on Jan 30, 2010 6:42 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

Here’s the thing though…he does have a point, his complaining did raise the bar for salaries and ppv% sharing…every time, not just this last hold out. But the reason he comes off as an idiot is that he says it. Just fucking let it go dude.

by Matthew Roth on Jan 30, 2010 4:42 PM EST reply actions

Not true.

Randy Couture and Chuck Liddell were the first two UFC fighters to get a cut of the ppv and to make seven figures for a fight.

The contract Tito signed upon returning was similar to those of Randy and Chuck. Tito, Ken and Royce all followed up those two with ppv cuts.

Tito had nothing to do with the current stars making millions. The facts back this up.

by Lynchman on Jan 30, 2010 4:50 PM EST up reply actions

Does everyone forget he got everyone millions AND MILLIONS!!! WHILE HAVING A CRACKED SKULL!!!!!!!!

was I supposed to read that in the Rock’s voice… cause I did.

by xicer on Jan 31, 2010 5:08 PM EST up reply actions

Tito I am sure played an instrumental role in having salaries go up for fighters. Was that his goal by holding out? I seriously doubt it.

by stearnum on Jan 30, 2010 4:43 PM EST reply actions

Guys don't forget...

All real fans know tito won that fight WITH a cracked skull!

Against Yvel

For the IBC Heavyweight Title (Innocent Bystander Championship). They’ll just fill the ring with 28 refs like it’s the Royal Rumble and the guy who mows down more wins.

Go Chuck, finish it for once and all

One day we can either like him or hate him depending on how he acts or what he says. By now most just roll their eyes at what he is saying. If anyone else has ever met Tito, input please…He was a really nice guy when I met him about 6 months ago prior to his return to UFC. He was just about to win me over completely, then he returns to old Tito in the UFC and he loses me.

I don't get it

if Tito had a cracked skull, in any fight, how did he get cleared to fight?

by proflex on Jan 30, 2010 5:29 PM EST reply actions

It’s hereditary. doctors found that it’s not life threatening and it does not affect his fighting, only his speech process.

So tito breached his contract by showing it to Rampage. Smart thing to admit publicly.

Tito and smart in the same sentence doesn’t compute.

by ufc4 on Jan 30, 2010 6:50 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

Sadly Tito is partly right about this

Not sure why he needs to boost about it but he’s right.

He kept the sport alive during a dark age in the US while setting the standard for fighters to be more professional, exit Tank Abbot and insert a fighter who trains like a spartan. This was an important part of the growing process and getting mainstream acceptance. Tito was also 1/2 of UFC PPV prior to 2008.

Rampage stuff is bs.

Rampage did not come from Pride, he came from the WFA. Unless Tito is saying that he helped Rampage get a cut from the WFA as Page’s WFA deal called for him to get a ppv cut as well.

As I said in my prev post, Tito was not the first to get seven figures, Randy and Chuck were.

Tito is sort of MMA’s version of Hulk Hogan. Whenever he talks, you have to sift through the bs to get the truth.

by Lynchman on Jan 30, 2010 8:47 PM EST reply actions

If this was true Tito wouldn’t have to talk about it.

But he’s just getting the hype going really, and it’s working.
