Mamoru Submits Baca, Captures KOTC Gold in Japan
Long-running American promotion King of the Cage made its first foray into Japan today with the Okinawa-hosted "Toryumon," and it was a Japanese fighter who came out on top in the evening's main event.
Mamoru Yamaguchi - the afro'd former Shooto champion who returned to MMA last October following a year-plus hiatus - picked up his third consecutive win with a second round submission of American Frank Baca. The victory also earned Yamaguchi his third title: King of the Cage World Junior Flyweight Champion.
Fighting in the hometown of Yoko Gushiken - the Japanese boxing champ who inspired Mamoru's trademark hair style - Yamaguchi used his own strong boxing and took advantage of the inclusion of elbow strikes before forcing the New Mexico-based wrestler to submit to a deep rear-naked choke just two minutes into the second frame.
In other noteworthy action: Krazy Bee's Kotetsu Boku took a hard-fought unanimous decision over former KOTC lightweight champ Tony Hervey; Bellator lightweight Toby Imada geared up for his April rematch against Jorge Masvidal by TKO'ing late replacement Daisuke "13" Hanazawa in the second; and Roxanne Modafferi got back on track with a submission win over Molly Helsel.
Twitter user Ape_Law had some live commentary during the show last night; more photos at Sportsnavi.

I freakin love Okinawa!
The civic center is a badass arena, last time i was there they had crazy Pride/DREAM entrances for all the fighters with daners and everything. And this was just for some small show wes sims was headlining.
I lived in Oki for 2 years and miss TACO RICE AND CHEESE every day.
