Bearded Wanderlei is hot, but that salt on his beard makes him look oooooold.

Yeah, it did look like Tom was getting the better of many of the exchanges, which doesn’t bode well for Wandy. However, Tom showed pretty decent stand-up in his 2nd fight.

It’s just a sparring match, don’t read too much into it. I’d keep an eye on film coming straight from his camp if you want to catch a crack in the armor, Wandy was probably just having a good time banging it out for the affliction promo.

yes,
it’s like Kim Couture saying when she goes hard, Wand goes hard. (don’t be a perv, not that “hard”)

Teehee
Really though, there were some prime chances for Wand to snatch up a quick clinch and blast a knee. If Wand doesn’t throw some kicks and seek out a MT clinch, this whole ’Old Wand is Back" shit is pretty much hopeless.
If Wand can do to Bisping, something similar to what Silva did to Rich Franklin, I can die young and be happy.

The sparring video on his real training looks pretty scary, and it’s really hard to judge anything with Wanderlei sparring with Atencio, which he obviously won’t go full force with.
I reallyyyyyyyyyyyyy hope we see the old Wand, but I am starting to have my doubts. (but that way, if it happens, i’d be much happier)

Here’s what I know. Wand fights hard, even when he’s losing, while Bisping hasn’t ever shown that kind of heart and willpower in a fight. Even on a bad night, Wand can win, even if he’s not the same man.
I do like Bisping though, so it’s not the end of the world for me.

Meh, it’s not like he battled back from the brink of defeat, it was more like Kang left the building after round one.
And do keep in mind I said “that kind” of willpower and heart. Not saying he has none at all.

No one doubts Wand’s heart, but I’m doubting what he has left, especially going even lower in weight. He has lost 5 out of his last 6, and really looked drained on his fight at franklin weight..
Wand can win, and I hope he does, but I’m starting to doubt if he can.

Lots of shots with no power.

@deowade
I blog about stuff too.
For the guys out there who train or spar, were they goin 100%? cuz it looked like they were going all out and beating the hell out of each other. Or is it like a 50% power, but focused more on speed and slipping punches?
Wanderlei vs Bisping reminds me of Cyborg vs Coenen
In the standup department, you have a fighter with power and aggression vs a fighter with better technical ability but not as much power. Also, you have a Brazilian vs a European.
