Cain Velasquez +110 talks Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira -140:
"I am preparing for an all-out war on February 21 in Sydney. My opponent Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira is an incredible boxer, incredible with jiu-jitsu, so I can't really take the fight anywhere and expect it to be easy. I expect a war the whole time. I have been training with a lot more guys who specialise in jiu-jitsu to get ready for Nogueira, but other than that my training regime has been the same as usual - between two and three sessions a day. This could be the best fight of my career."
"When I look back on my fights in the UFC, I don't really have a favorite yet, but definitely the one that stands out most is my battle with Cheick Kongo at UFC 99. I went through some adversity in that fight, but I wouldn't just fall over and crumble. I got hit and I came back on top and won the fight pretty easily. I surprised myself a little bit, I was willing to take his punches and then give back what I had. I think a lot of guys would have fallen. To take that kind of hit and then capitalize, it was great, but while I was really pleased with my toughness, I was not happy with the technical side of things, getting caught like that."

I dunno…it’s gotta be equally intimidating to see the LEGENDARY HEISMAN TROPHY WINNER over your opponent’s shoulder. Yes I’m talking about HERSHAL FUCKING WALKER.

Thanks for clarifying
When you said intimidating former Heisman Trophy winner I assumed you meant OJ

Taking all those punches is not a good thing.

@deowade
I blog about stuff too.
i think Nog iz gonna submit him.....
then it will be Nog Vs Carwin…then Carwin Vs Brock…
"If I told you I was good, you would think I am boasting. If I told you I was not good, you would know I am lying" Bruce Lee
it’s going to be winner of Carwin/Mir vs Brock, or if the winner is unable to fight Brock by June than it’s the winner of Nog/Cain. I think they already confirmed this.
Pain is Temporary
Pride is Forever
I'm hoping for Mir vs. Carwin to go long.
I just can’t reasonably believe that two guys that big have any cardio past the second, especially with Mir working to gain bulk and Carwin working a full time job instead of full time training. And when that turns in to a sloppy gasfest with Carwin being too tired to throw a KO punch and Mir not having what it takes to finish a sub, Nogueira’s anaconda choke win over Cain will propel him to a title shot!

man I hope so
I just want Nog vs Brock really bad, whatever needs to be done for me to see that I hope it happens :p

cain doesn’t hit hard enough to dent Nog in decent shape…..and on the mat, Nog will submit him unlike the imrpessive sub defense of Couture (still can’t believe he escaped that choke ).

my only concern is how the Luiz Alves stroke/accident effects his training/mind set

Cain
has already surprised me by having no punching power.
I like using semi-colons; they make me feel smart.

Much like the exponential improvement Lesnar made from the Herring fight to his 2nd bout with Mir, Cain will undoubtedly begin to add mustard to his GNP as he gains more experience (he’s only got 7 pro fights). It’s simply a matter of becoming more comfortable. You can’t possibly believe what he’s shown thus far is all the power he actually possesses, right?
I think that he will put up a good fight. I see Velasquez going for the takedown to ground n pound strategy that he has been employing on his recent opponents. I can’t imagine him standing too long with Nogueira because Cain’s standup isn’t his strongest weapon, his wrestling is. However, we all know how good Nogueira is on the ground off his back, so I can see Velasquez, despite having a strong wrestling base, getting swept or even submitted. Many of Velasquez’s previous opponents didn’t offer him any type of danger on the ground, so Nogueira will test him there.
So excited
I don’t know about you guys, but this fight is one of my top 5 most exciting fights that are already booked. I think this will be a very exciting fight.
Question: What wrestlers has Nog faced so far that were notable that he submitted? How does Cain match up to them? (this is a serious question)
Personally, I think Velasquez will have his way with Nog on the ground. If he can avoid the submission that is. Problem is, V doesn’t know what to do once he gets there, so I see a lot of throws, then standing back up, then throwing again.
I hope Nog has properly recovered from staph this time. If so, he'll win convincingly.
