Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal hyping up a potential bout with Gegard Mousasi:
"Once it's confirmed, game over." ..."I don't know if Mousasi turned the Dynamtite!! 2009 fight down, or I guess his management – maybe he didn't have enough time to train for me on short notice, but I was willing to step in and fight him at DREAM."
..."I like being an underdog. I like people doubting me." ..."Yeah, Mousasi has good stand-up. He might have a better clinch, but I'm not worried about what he says at all. I hope he trains hard with 'GSP,' man. That's cool. It's whatever. He can do whatever he wants and say whatever he wants, cause when it comes down to it – when the fight happens – I'm going to be happy, because I get what I want."
"...everybody will see what I'm talking about, why I wanted this fight."

Now this is the kind of King Mo shit-talking I can get behind
When he’s calling out top competition (that he might actually get pitted against), I don’t mind him being brash and confident. I personally hope they make this fight.
Blackout612- "Wuts teh UFC?"
Ubernoober- "It like two guy who just stand and swing for fence and try to knock each other shit out it awesome"
That is great shit-talking but I don't hope they make it.
I do have a pretty good alternate plan, so listen up Coker. I want to see King Mo get couple of more wins under his belt so he doesn’t go against Mousasi too green. I want to see the best fight possible between them, so here is what I propose for the April CBS card:
Fedor vs Werdum
Hendo vs Shields
KIng Mo vs Mike Kyle
Bobby Lashley vs Shane Del Rosario to shut Blackout612 up
Now Coker has talked about doing a Dream co-promotion, possible in Japan, sometime in May. And Alistair said he would be available after April, so I propose the following May card from Tokyo
Shinya Aoki vs Gilbert Melendez
Alistair Overeem vs Brett Rogers or Andrei Arlovski
Gegard Mousasi vs Paulo Filho
Tatsuya Kawajiri vs Josh Thomson
and maybe Frank Shamrock vs Sakaruba or Jacare vs Mayhem Miller
Now after that card, Mousasi still has at least two fights left with Strikeforce (that was a Dream fight) and Overeem has been introduced to American audiences. You can now schedule a card with Fedor vs Overeem and Dan Henderson vs Gegard Mousasi as the main event with King Mo vs Rafael Cavalcante and Jacare vs Jake Shields on the undercard to set up a future Mousasi/King Mo and Hendo/Jacare card.
If Coker can’t make that happen, I’ll take a King Mo-Mousasi bout in April.
No
There are many reasons for me to disagree with you, but one is that you’re seemingly trying to butter up Mo by feeding him Mike Kyle. I have two problems with that. First, Kyle himself could use a more winnable fight. Dude KO’s Feijao then is asked to move up to fight Werdum. I think the point here is that you don’t want the fight to happen because you want to preserve the top talent. Well, if you don’t develop more top talent, then what’s the point in shuffling your feet? I don’t think that either fighter loses much in losing to one another. And I don’t see anyone in the division that makes this fight more credible in six months.
Blackout612- "Wuts teh UFC?"
Ubernoober- "It like two guy who just stand and swing for fence and try to knock each other shit out it awesome"
Oh yeah
The second reason was, what if he Feijao’s Mo? Your fight is dead before it has a chance to happen. We’re seen this “don’t bust your nut too early” in practice in MMA many times— it almost never works out.

That’s why Mo (or Mike Kyle) faces Rafael Cavalcante next (or Babalu or whomever) in a #1 contenders match. I want to see the cream rise.
And agreed on Kyle. Give Kyle a tune-up fight and have King Mo face Rafael Cavalcante on CBS. If Mo wins he would most likely face Kyle next and if Feijao wins he most likely faces Babalu.
And my point is not to preserve Mo, it’s to give him or Feijao (although I am sure Strikeforce would prefer Mo) time to develop into legit challengers.
I think they were very disappointed in Feijao’s loss to Kyle, but he’s a talented kid with a lot of upside. He needs some tuning up, though. They were probably counting on him to be ready earlier.

I still see Feijao going places. And a couple of points about the April card:
- If it is really Fedor vs Werdum (man I hope they can get Overeem on it as well), Hendo vs Shields, and Mousasi vs King Mo, than that is a great card.
- Best case scenario for Strikeforce is that King Mo wins.
I wouldn’t be surprised if you see Frank Shamrock on that card also. Maybe against Scott Smith.

All of those things on one card would be awesome.

Benji Raddach talked about wanting to be on the card against Melvin Manhoef. Would be awesome if that was on the undercard and if SF would broadcast it, time permitting.

I could see that, but I really want to see Frank against Sakaruba.

Why not? He's got to fight someone legit sometime..
Strikeforce needs to get away from these gimme fights. That’s the good thing about UFC, most of the time the fights are at least competitive.

King mo was one of my favorite fighters from 09
hopefully he can provide some more excitement in 2010
What happens if King Mo wins…. He can’t fight Henderson. Which means much like Mousasi, he is left with nobody really to fight.
I hate how they are rushing King Mo into a title shot.
Why can’t he fight Hendo? Mo said he’d love to fight Hendo. In fact, Strikeforce would probably be better off if King Mo won. They have a longer fight contract with him than Mousasi, and they won’t have the extra burden of dealing with m-1.

If Mo gets thru Mousasi then that would prove that he deserves a fight with Hendo.

Thats funny, considering that IF Mo wins he would have the title...
and then proven he deserves a fight with Hendo…
BTW, I hope Mousasi destroys him.
king mo is a high quality wrestler and a great athlete
mousasis gonna be a huge favorite but i can see an upset here mousasi is still really young and although experenced hes never faced anyone with mo’s skillset
Mo's "skill set" is better than Jacare's?
I would think Jacare does everything MO does and probably better.
you think Jacare has better wrestling...
?
I'm like PacMan fightin you silly kids... throw ya Hatton the ring, and get knocked outlike Ricky did.
lol.
no chance jacare has better wrestling
u could argue king mo has the best wrestling credentials in mma jacare is a great jiu jitsu practitioner but his wrestling is nowhere near king mo’s
mousasi has never fought anyone with outstanding wrestling either it could be interesting to see how he adapts to this style
I predict a lot of smirking from Mousasi.
Keep firing Assholes!
Mind numbing, tedious and ultimately self defeating.
i hope
theres a lot more than smirking by mousasi

If this was the plan why wasn’t the Whitehead fight at 205?
Still a pretty good matchup. I hope Mo is really up for it, because he’s going to talk like he is, so it would be nice to see a decent fight come out of this.
When Mo fought Whitehead (Dec 19th) Mike Whitehead weighed like 246 or something like that.. Mo shouldn’t have an issue cutting any weight

Apparently Whitehead requested the fight be at heavy and Mo agreed.

I wonder why he requested that?
Oh yeah, he was grossly overweight.

It's sad how the Strikeforce LHW talent pool is so shallow..
and they have to rush Mo in to this… I would’ve wanted to see him get a few more fights against better competition first.
