Brad Blackburn says dehydration was the reason he lost to Amir Sadollah:

Blackburn explains that he was completely dehydrated come fight time against Amir. Brad usually re-hydrates with the aid of IVs and did not do that this time around. He made the mistake of deviating from his normal weight cutting ritual and he is positive that it cost him the fight.

So he lost the fight because he couldn’t get needles into him?

Sort of an anti-Manny Pacquiao

Keep firing Assholes!

Mind numbing, tedious and ultimately self defeating.

Boy, that’s a dangerous habit to be in.

He got tooled for 3 rounds and uses the oldest and lamest excuse in the sport. I am so sick of whiney losers!

so dehydration was why he was wobbling about? I thought it was from amir’s knee

It’s not like Blackburn looked particularly different than he has in any other of his fights. Amir just had better striking, and it showed. Maybe he was drained, but that goes on him for lack of preparation for this bout.

In this case, he's the man.

And not in a good way…

I’m pretty sure most camps consider IV’s a last resort when it comes to rehydration, and this guy’s doing it every time?

by agentsmith on Jan 26, 2010 10:04 AM EST reply actions

I’m sorry, but true or not, this is no excuse. If you can’t make the cut and be at a healthy weight for the fight, then you need to be fighting at the proper weight class.
I’m afraid it is only a matter of time before something tragic happens regarding weight cutting or stepping into the fight suffering from its effects.

so you’re saying you lost the fight because you were dumb?

If he used an IV before other successful fights he is dumb for deviating from that part of his preparations.
