Quote of the Day: Mark Coleman - "I Cancelled Christmas"

"I came out here (to Vegas) so that I could surround myself with professional athletes and people that have the same goals in their careers as I do. It has been excellent out here and it really helps for me to get away from all the distractions that I would have had if I would have stayed in Columbus, Ohio. Since I got here, when I am not at the gym training I come back to my hotel room and close the curtains and just concentrate on this fight....it is almost like my cave. For the last 50 days I go from my hotel room to the gym and then from the gym to my hotel room, I even had to cancel Christmas this year. I will celebrate Christmas with my kids when this fight is over but for right now it's all about taking care of business."-- Mark Coleman talks about training with Shawn Tompkins at the TapOut Training Center in Las Vegas.

I vote that the loser of this fight has to change their nickname to “The Old Prospector”

This just about makes me want to pull for him. Randy just has to support his own cash cow (and alimony payments)

I believe him. I actually think that people aren’t giving him much of a chance due to blind love for Randy. On paper, this should be a good, exciting fight, far from the one-sided beatdown fans may be expecting.
This is the same Mark Coleman that gave Machida a tough time, with no camp.
Did you see the size of that chicken?
Unlikley
The only reason he gave Rua trouble cause Rua wasn’t 100%. If the Rua that fought machida showed up against griffin or Coleman Those wouldve been different fights. Even the rua that was the pride if pride.

Sounds like he’s working really hard. I haven’t really been looking forward to this fight all that much, but I’m starting to think it could end up FOTY candidate much like Randy’s bout with Nog.

first he makes me meet the scary guy who beat him up now this
I respect his determination but i don’t see any father of the year awards in the near future. That’s cold. His girls are still pretty young. Do you think they really get it? Nothing says Merry Christmas like a beat up Daddy
I love the fact that he left the distractions of Columbus for the solitude and focus of Las Vegas.

I think Coleman will surprise people.
I’m still picking Randy, but I think this will be very, very competitive. I just have a feeling Coleman is gonna show up for this fight and take it to Randy.
You have to be the man... you have to be very, like, alpha male with her. You know? Decide what you do and everything. So, show her who's the boss, you know? - GSP
40+ years old and has to fight to feed his kids. At least he is doing whatever it takes to give him the best shot at winning and providing for his kids. From the way they made it seem before his comeback to the UFC, he had to borrow money to pay for training camp. Probably the norm for most young fighter but at his age and for how popular he is I would have hoped to be sitting on a nice nest egg by now. Wonder if he would have been better off staying in the UFC. He probably got paid more in the short term in Japan but the long term royalties are probably not there.
Unless they still own their image rights
they get nothing. I’d be surprised if he did. Randy almost certainly does though.

Coleman will win
I actually think that Coleman will win this fight. Couture looked very bad against Vera and Coleman is the better wrestler. He is also most motivated.
Colemand by unanimous decision.
The Grinch: lol. I don’t understand how anyone could not be excited for this fight. Two hall of fame champions who have bitch-slapped father time. I can’t wait.
exactly right there David. I don’t get why anyone would even think Coleman has a chance hear just becasue he beat a way way overrated Stephan Bonnar. The are pretty much 2 outcomes hear and bolth have Coleman gassing. And after that happens Randy eather TKO’s him late 2nd or early 3rd or rids out a easy easy decision 30-27 decision. I still can’t get over how Bonnar could not stop that Horrible Doudle leg from Coleman that you could see coming half way across the octagon ? But Randy will and will make him pay for it !
Don’t let him fool you, the real reason he cancelled Christmas was because he wouldn’t have any money til after this fight.

If anyone has the one with Coleman and Fedor after the fight with his kids in the ring. The video is even better. DADDY ARE YOU O.K ? I know I’m going to hell.. for even asking
+300 for Coleman seems crazy
I love him at those odds. This fight will be a lot closer than the odds suggest.
Giving Shogun his props. I had the fight 48-47 Machida but Shogun put up a monumental performance and I am honored to have seen it in person.

Maybe he should change his nickname to Mark “I Canceled Christmas” Coleman, that would be pretty badass actually.
