UFC 108 Results: Jake Ellenberger Stops Mike Pyle In The Second Round
After an impressive performance in his UFC debut against Carlos Condit (a fight that went Condit's way, although many scored it for Ellenberger), Jake Ellenberger came out looking to make a clear statement in his sopohmore effort against BJJ specialist Mike Pyle.
It was clear early that Pyle wanted to get the fight to the ground quickly but Ellenberger was happy to oblige with a takedown. Pyle threatened with a few submissions from his back, including a kimura that he nearly completed, but Ellenberger stifled him from the top. Although Ellenberger did little damage on top for the majority of the round, a flurry of hammer-fists at the end left Pyle wincing in pain and slow to rise to his feet.
The heavy-handed Ellenberger picked up where he left off just seconds into the second round. After collapsing Pyle with a stiff right hand, Ellenberger unloaded with a flurry of shots on a crumpled Pyle before referee Yves Lavigne jumped in for the TKO victory
