If Rashad defeats Thiago Silva tonight, a March fight with Rampage is possible according to Dana White:
"Rashad would have to win this fight to fight 'Rampage,'" White recently told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). "And if he does win this fight, they will fight – probably in March."
"We're still pissed at each other," White said. "We are. When something this big happens, you don't just go, 'Ah, never mind. Forget it.' It doesn't work that way."
"We'll figure it out," White said. "You're not going to see 'Rampage' on the prelims and [expletive]. There will be none of that."

The whole “if he wins” thing is all bullshit, they’ll put on the fight regardless, too much $ to be made. Think Dana was saying the same thing about chuck vs wand, saying if chuck beats jardine then chuck/wandy would happen, chuck lost and fight bs wandy happened anyway

I disagree
With Rashad gaining some popularity, and being one of the more recognizable faces, he’d get a bounce back fight at the least because he would have lost 2 straight fights.
I'm like PacMan fightin you silly kids... throw ya Hatton the ring, and get knocked outlike Ricky did.
lol.
March? Please wont happen.
Remember last year. Dana wanted Rampage/Rashad to happen originally at 96 instead of Jardine/Rampage but Evans said he need more time off but what now Evans with a win is going to want to fight 2 months later. Doubtful at best.
Chances are
109 – Couture/Coleman, Swick/Thiago
110 – Velazquez/Big Nog, Bisping/W. Silva
111 – GSP/Hardy, Mir/Carwin, Alves/Fitch
112 – Silva/Belfort, Hughes/Gracie
113 – Machida/Shogun 2
114 – Rampage/Evans
115 – Griffin/Franklin – it’s what I’m hearing.
are you thinking june for 114?
maybe march is too early but june would be a frustrating wait.

No 114 is supposed to take place on May 29, 2010 in Vegas.
Maybe April if Silva/Belfort falls apart again or if they really want to stack that card or on the Shogun/Machida 2 card but March will not happen.
My thinking is they know Rampage/Evans is gonna sell no matter what so I dont see them putting it on another card that is already gonna sell already.

Kind of off-topic, but I wonder how correct this strategy really is. Are you better off trying to do 2 separate cards that each draw 600K buys, or putting your eggs in one basket and going for a big 1 million+ event?
UFC 100 is a pretty interesting case study in card-building strategy. I wonder how many buys that card would have done if you subtracted GSP vs Alves and just had Lesnar/Mir and Hendo/Bisping.

I wonder how many buys it would have done if the same card was ufc 103 or 97.

hmm i tend to think most casual fans don’t place any value on the event numbering, and that “100” might as well be 1000 or 666 or whatever. more important was that the marketing kept reinforcing how big an event it was. if they had the fights to back it up, i think they could do the same thing with pretty much any card. just my gut reaction though.

Um..
Despite what you (and most of the internet critics think), there are us Rampage fans who know he’ll destroy Rashad.
me? sorry can’t tell but i definitely think rashad will lose to page… that being said i think thiago vs rashad should’ve been a draw.

I think Jon earned the undercard treatment...
He isn’t very exciting. Tough guy, good fighter, but not too exciting.
I'm like PacMan fightin you silly kids... throw ya Hatton the ring, and get knocked outlike Ricky did.
lol.
He has only one career loss at welterweight
and it’s to arguably the greatest welterweight the sport has yet known. And we shouldn’t watch him because…

I don't disagree
that he’s a good fighter… He just isn’t too exciting of a fighter. Very predictable, and not very appealing for the casual fan on most occasions.

lol.
I'm not a casual fan
And he bores the Hell out of me. If he could at least submit somebody then I might change my mind about him.
