I’d like to see MO fight a competitive fight and win. Then, fight Gegard.

Whitehead was a decent step up for mo given the short time he’s been fighting… Mousasi on the other hand has been fighting for what seems like forever

I think Mo is ready for Mousasi, he definitely has a good chance of beating him, its not as much of a mismatch as everyone is making it out to be. Besides who else do they have on their roster that is more worthy than King Mo for their CBS card in April?
True.
But, that’s a product of a thin roster, not b/c this is the ideal time to make this match. I’d like to see this rivalry simmer a little bit b4 it actually happens.

king mo has been training striking for a year… mousasi has been since he was a preteen, as well as grappling. mo isn’t ready for gegard.

While that may be a determining factor in this individual fight, i believe pedigree is held in much to high of a regard in mma. as more athletes cross over to mma, we will see more cases similar to gsp, who took to wrestling with ease.
what i mean to say, is that it is very possible for mo to have adapted to striking well enough to hang with mousasion the feet, and to use his wrestling to suffocate the smaller man on the ground a la mir/lesnar II . thats what makes this fight interesting.
mo isn’t that much bigger than ‘mousasion’, and i definitely agree with you about pedigree but gegard willbe too much for mo… obviously anything can happen but I think it would make more sense for him to fight cormier.

Why does it make more sense to fight a training partner, long time friend, is 1-0, and a hw?

I didn’t know they were training partners and long time friends… still would make more sense than for him to fight gegard mousasi which I think makes no sense whatsoever.

The main card im hoping for on that CBS card is….
Main Event:
Fedor vs Werdum
Mousasi vs King Mo
Hendo vs Shields
Melendez vs Aoki

It’s probably to soon. They’ll probably give him Feijao first.

Good idea.
Maybe Feijao/MO, and if MO can blast Feijao then he gets a title shot at Mousasi.

Too bad Arona is hurt, because he’d be perfect to step in as the next LHW contender while King Mo gets another couple of victories against the likes of Feijao and Babalu.
In fact on the Hendo vs Mousasi card I’d put King Mo vs Feijao and Jacare vs Robbie Lawlor on the undercard to build them up as the next contenders.
I know they also want to really get Overeem on this card to introduce him to the US audience. I wonder who they could offer up a month after his K-1 bout? Arlovski? Bigfoot? Are those two too dangerous, would they have bring Tim Sylvia?

Overeem v Sylvia would be awesomely brutal

That would be an awesome card, the problem is, Strikeforce will never be able to top it. That’s why it’s probably a good idea to keep Mousasi and Mo apart for at least one more fight. There’s more fights for Mo like Babalu for example but I can’t think who Mousasi could fight? Maybe Hendo but he’s gonna kill Jake Shields first. Like seriously kill him. Especially after he Beat Palhares convincingly (who is a more powerful and accomplished grappler – apparently subs big Nog regularly in training).
SherdogSux, who would u rather see Mousasi fight then if not King Mo? I seriously cant think of another opponent that would interest people more?
So let see... So far he has called out:
Rampage, Fedor, Mousasi
No one can ever say that he doesn’t have balls
Right...
Because him calling out Rampage was completely unprompted and unprovoked, right? And he didn’t call out Fedor. He volunteered himself when Affliction was scrambling to find Fedor a replacement opponent.
King Mo has serious balls.
I don’t think it’s smart for your career or health to volunteer yourself to fight the best heavyweight ever after only training for a year. I don’t know if him having ‘serious balls’ is a good thing in this situation.
by cagefightonacid on Jan 2, 2010 2:33 PM EST via mobile up reply actions
Not in that particular situation...
But my point is that he’s not just a loudmouth who’s spouting crap. He’s actually putting himself out there trying to get these fights.
I just don’t know why he would want to fight those guys at this point..
by cagefightonacid on Jan 2, 2010 3:04 PM EST via mobile up reply actions
Yeah
The difference is he hasn’t fought any of them.

What has mousasi done to earn the elite label everyone keeps slapping on him… Beat up sokadjou? Beat up cans in japan?
by kanodogg on Jan 2, 2010 4:20 PM EST via mobile up reply actions
I didn’t know Dennis Kang, Jacare, Hector Lombard, and Melvin Manhoef (don’t let Leland catch you saying that) are cans? He also beat Babalu in Strikeforce. I suggest you look up those fights on YouTube and then rejoin the discussion.

@deowade
I hope this fight gets made.
Why would Mousasi say no after fighting Goodrigde?
I don’t think MO could stand with GM.
